Ziggurat is the main antagonist of Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars.

Appearance

Ziggurat is a demonic looking sun like creature, with sharp vamparic looking fangs and sharp eyes.

History

5000 years ago Ziggurat attempted to steal the constellations from the sky surrounding Planet Aries in an attempt to make himself the most powerful star in the galaxy. Whilst he managed to successfully steal them from the starry sky, a young hero by the name of Halifax Kidd, ventured into the realm between time and space to retrieve the stars and put a stop to Ziggurat. Before Ziggurat was sealed by Halifax Kidd, however he swore he would return to finish what he started.

In the present day, Ziggurat has returned and successfully stolen the constellations once more. Halifax's descendant, Alex Kidd, notices the stars missing, and travelling to the top of Mt. Eternal, comes across the wizard Daleda who tells the legend of Halifax Kidd to Alex.

Daleda helps Alex and his friend Stella through to the realm between worlds where Ziggurat resided, and tells them that Ziggurat has hidden the stars within 12 miracle balls that they must find and free the constellations from.

Eventually Alex comes across Ziggurat, and in an attempt to prevent Alex from reaching his tomb, Ziggurat unleashes miniature versions of himself to attack Alex which are destroyed. Alex and Stella make it to Ziggurats and free the stars back into the sky.

Ziggurat's fate is unknown after this but it can be assumed he is sealed once again by the duo for the next 5000 years.

Trivia

• One of the Miracle Balls Ziggurat hides the stars in is the sentient spaceship Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone.
• Whilst Ziggurat faces Alex Kidd in the Master System title, he does not physically appear in the arcade version with the game ending upon Alex and/or Stella reaching his tomb.
• Ziggurat is the only final boss in the Alex Kidd series that is completely invulnerable to attacks. To defeat him, Alex needs to make it past Ziggurat and his minions and enter the tomb. His miniatures can be defeated however.
