History[]

Shenmue II[]

Ryo Hazuki first encounters Ren when trying to find out the location of Yuanda Zhu, having been told Ren would know from Shuqin Zhang. Ren states he'll give that information up, but only if Ryo pays him a 'donation' of $500. After paying Ren, Ren attacks Ryo with his knife, which the player will have to successful beat a QTE in order to avoid being mugged. If Ryo succesfully beats the QTE, Ren will admit defeat, see how serious Ryo is and agree to show him the way to Zhu.

Ryo tags along, and is lead to a warehouse where the two witness an exchange of money happening between the Yellow Heads's executive, Yuan and and Gangfang Lin. Ryo turns to Ren who has vanished, turns the lights in the warehouse off, attacks Gangfang Lin and his associate, steals the money and leaves Ryo to deal with the furious Yellow Heads.

Ren goes to Pigeon Park to meet up with his gang members, Sam, Larry and Cool Z, but Joy and Wong inform Ryo of Ren's whereabouts, and an infuriated Ryo tracks him down. Ryo demands Ren show him the way to Zhu, and Ren once again agrees...if Ryo can catch him. A chase sequence then happens where the player must perform QTEs to keep up with Ren as he attempts to slow Ryo down with traps. Eventually Ryo corners Ren on the roof. As Ren attempts to escape via some scaffolding, Ryo also jumps on it, the extra weight cause the scaffolding to collapse, and the two land painfully onto the back of a covered van.

Ren spots the Phoenix Mirror which has fallen out of Ryo's pockets during the commotion, but Ryo snatches it away before Ren can steal it. Ryo tells Ren his mission to track down Lan Di, whom Ren recognises as a member of the Chi You Men, and with such an outlandish and dangerous mission, Ren becomes a lot more interested in helping Ryo out, believing there to be treasure involved and he wants a cut of the action. Ren reveals that Yuanda Zhu is in Kowloon and he'll meet Ryo there.
