Wii U

Wii U is a home video game console created by Nintendo released on November 18, 2012. It is the follow up to the Nintendo Wii, and followed up by the Nintendo Switch.

Trivia[]

  • Bayonetta is selected as the final character for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, stated to be the most voted character by the public that was realisable at the time. She came in as the top request from European voters. She joins Sonic as a Sega guest fighter in these games.
  • Sega were one of the few third party companies to support the Wii U, which included Wii U exclusives like Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and at the time, Sonic Lost World.
  • The Wii U was a financial failure, being Nintendo's lowest selling home console of all time outside the Virtual Boy.
  • Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was Sega's best selling game on the console, selling only 1.19 million copies.
