Plot[]

The main conflict of Valkyria Chronicles takes place over the glowing blue energy source of Ragnite, an all powerful energy source capable of healing wounds as advanced medicine, powering massive weapons of destruction and used as an energy source powering tanks. The East Europan Imperial Alliance and Atlantic Federation are at war over this resource on the fictional continent of Europa. Caught in the middle of this war is Gallia, a neutral party in the war but rich for Ragnite mines. As a result of this, the East Europan Imperial Alliance launches a surprise attack on Gallia in order to take it's land and gain it's Ragnite supply. The game follows Welkin Gunther, Alicia Melchiott and the other members of Squad 7 as they fight off the East Europan Imperial Alliance army to free Gallia.

Valkyria Chronicles II is a direct sequel to Valkyria Chronicles, taking place after the second Europan war. A group of dissatisifed aristocrats and like minded soldiers band together to attempt to wage a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Darcsen people. After the events of the first title the Gallian army is in no state to prevent a civil uprising like this. Due to the laws in place prevent the militia from fighting against Gallian's own people, military cadets such as Avan Hardins and the other members of Class G are drafted to put a stop to this insurrection from happening.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 is a game that takes place during the second Europan war at the same time the events of Valkyria Chronicles are happening but follows a ghost unit of Gallian soldiers known as Squad 422 or The Nameless led by Kurt Irving. Members of the Nameless consist of criminals, deserters or military offenders whose names are erased off the records and referred to by only their numbers. They are often sent on suicidal missions considered too dangerous for the regular army.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 follows Claude Wallace and Squad E, member of the Atlantic Federation as they attempt to get the upper hand over the Imperial Army in their escalating war. Similar to Valkyria Chronicles 3, this title also takes place during the events of the second Europan war parallel to Valkyria Chronicles story.

Valkyria Revolution takes place in an entirely different conflict set instead during a conflict between Jutland and the Ruzi Empire, and as such has no characters from previous titles appear unlike the other games all of which have at least a guest appearance from Welkin Gunther, Alicia Melchiott, Isara Gunther, Largo Potter, Brigitte "Rosie" Stark or Selvaria Bles. Valkyria Revolution also forgoes the usual gameplay style, becoming more of a hack and slash style game.
