The End is the main antagonist and final boss of Sonic Frontiers, while also being one of the strongest beings in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
History[]
The End has existed for tens of thousands of years, destroying countless stars, planets and lives. The only civilization that fought back was the Ancients. When The End approached the Ancients’s planet, they fleed to Earth. However, The End found them there too, so they used their mechs (such as Titans) to fight it. Supreme’s pilot sacrificed himself and trapped The End inside of Supreme inside Cyber Space.
Sonic Frontiers[]
The End appeared as a mysterious voice guiding Sonic the Hedgehog through the Starfall Islands, using the hedgehog to free itself. The End told Sonic to defeat the Titans which not only free his friends, but also The End. When The End was freed, Sonic had to team up with Sage and Dr. Eggman to fight it. Once Sonic defeated Supreme on Ouranos Island, The End escaped from the Titan and started to reform in space. Because of this, Sage piloted Supreme and assisted Super Sonic in defeating it.
Once The End was defeated by Sonic, however, it started to explode; Sage hurried to it inside of Supreme and sacrificed herself to stop the explosion. The End was killed.
Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon[]
Once Sonic defeated Supreme on Ouranos Island, The End reformed on Earth and then took control of Supreme once again; this time, not as its prison, but avatar of return, taking full control of the Titan. Super Sonic couldn’t do anything on his own, so he had mastered his Cyber Corruption and turned into Super Sonic 2. Finally, he turned into Super Sonic Cyber and performed a Wild Rush, disintegrating Supreme and killing The End by himself.
Boss fight[]
Sonic Frontiers[]
The End boss fight is only played in Hard and Extreme mode (in Easy and Normal, Supreme is the final boss). The End’s boss fight is nothing like the other boss fights in Sonic Frontiers. It is similar to the Ikaruga-style mini-game played earlier in the game on Chaos Island and Ouranos Island. The player will play as Sage piloting Supreme, shooting bullets at The End, slowly chipping away at its health. The End will speak a monologue, attempting to spite Sonic and believing that it has already won. It will shoot bullets back and need to be reflected with bullets of the same color. The End will shoot out lasers as well. Getting hit more than three times will result in a game over and the player will have to the boss fight all over again.
After the End has a quarter of health, a cutscene will play of Super Sonic and Sage fighting back Supreme, and then three continuous QTEs before Sonic destroys the end for good, and the final cutscene of the game plays.
Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon[]
The End boss fight in The Final Horizon is played on all modes. It is very different from the original End fight, as this version is similar to the Titan boss fights in the game.
