The Adventures of Batman & Robin is a 1995 video game developed by Clockwork Tortoise for the Mega Drive, Game Gear, and Mega-CD systems. Each one varies in plot, gameplay style, and music.
Plot[]
Mega Drive version[]
Batman & his sidekick, Robin, must save Gotham City from the evil Mr. Freeze. However he does not work alone, and frees The Joker, The Mad Hatter, and Two-Face. Each cause their own form of destruction to Gotham- Joker is celebrating his birthday and is stealing valuable diamonds, Two-Face plans to take over Gotham from above, and The Mad Hatter is working on his own robot army in his lab.
Game Gear version[]
The Joker, having had assembled an army of old Batman villains, kidnaps Robin and Batman must save him.
Mega CD version[]
The story of the Mega-CD version is told primarily through FMV cutscenes created specifically for the game, with segments of chase sequences using the Batmobile strung between.
Reception[]
All 3 versions of the game were called rather mediocre by critics. A reviewer from magazine Next Generation gave the Genesis version one out of five stars, calling the side-scrolling platforming “generic” and also citing its failure to look like the cartoon it was based on.
