Tangle the Lamur is a character in the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and one of the main protagonist in the Whisper and Tangle Comics series.
Comics[]
Tangle is first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog #4, when Sonic arrives at her home village of Spiral Hill as an organised badnik attack invades her village. After teaming up with both Sonic and Blaze, Tangle has her passion for adventure reignited, and contemplates leaving her village in order to adventure and fight badniks, but is concerned what will happen without her around to protect Spiral Hill.
Game Appearances[]
Tangle the Lemur appears as a playable character in both Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, debuting in both alongside Whisper the Wolf during July 2020. Her abilities in the latter title all involve the use of her elongated tail.
Trivia[]
- Tangle, alongside Whisper the Wolf are the first comic characters to later be added to Sonic the Hedgehog video games as playable characters. This is due to Sega owning the characters in the IDW universe. Sally Acorn, Rotor the Walrus and Bunnie D'Coolette do all appear in very minor cameos in the western produced Sonic Spinball however.
- Tangle was inspired by some of the initial concepts for Sonic the Hedgehog, namely the rabbit design who could pick things up with his ears. After brainstorming animals who could use elongated body parts such as rabbits and their ears or an anteater who could do similar with their nose, Tangle's design was settled as a Ring-tailed Lemur.
- Tangle is mentioned by Sonic in Sonic Frontiers as one of his idle statements. This is the first reference to a comic character in a mainline game.
