Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a 2008 crossover platform fighter on the Nintendo Wii.
The majority of the playable characters are Nintendo's own characters such as Mario, Link, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud and Kirby but Super Smash Bros. Brawl also marks the first time the series dipped into guest characters one of which was SEGA's own Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic was officially revealed on October 10th, 2007 and was met with the most excitement of any character reveal at the time. To date Smash fans still rank his reveal as one of the very best in the entire series.
GAMEPLAY[]
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a platform fighting game in which up to four people try to knock each other off the stage.
Fighters have a range of basic and special moves as well as one super powered move called the Final Smash if they break a Smash Ball item. They can also use other items such as 'Assist Trophies' which summon NPC allies to help the fighters out in battle.
Rather than having health in the traditional sense, Super Smash Bros. uses a percentage bar. The more damage done to the fighter, the higher their percentage rises, making it easier to launch them off the sides of the stage and into the blast zone to KO them.
There are a total of 35 playable fighters(39 if Zelda, Sheik, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard are counted as seperate fighters).
The playable roster consists of Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Luigi, Ness, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, Princess Peach, Bowser, Ice Climbers, Sheik/Princess Zelda, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Falco, Marth, Young Link, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Roy, Mr. Game and Watch, Metaknight, Pit, Wario, Solid Snake, Ike, Pokemon Trainer(Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard), Diddy Kong, Lucas, Sonic, King Dedede, Captain Olimar, Lucario, R.O.B., Toon Link and Wolf O' Donnel.
SEGA CONTENT[]

Trivia[]
- Prior to Sonic's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Brawl there had been a rumour that both he and Tails were unlockable secret characters in the previous installment Super Smash Bros. Melee thanks to an April Fool's Day prank ran by Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine.
- Sonic is the last character unlocked via the game's storymode the Subspace Emissary.
