Super Scaler is a revolutionary sprite scaling technology developed by Yu Suzuki and Sega-AM2. It allows for a psuedo-3D effect which makes game elements appear close to or far away from the player without a loss in frame rate. The technology was introduced in 1985 with Hang-On and would later appear in multiple different arcade boards in the future.
