Super Monkey Ball is the second game of the Super Monkey Ball series, with the first being Monkey Ball. It was developed by Amusement Vision and published by Sega. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001 in Japan and U.S., and 2002 in Europe. There is the logo of Dole Food Corporation on the many Bananas in the game, on two of the stages (Beginner Floor 8 & Master Floor 5), and on many objects that are not part of the levels.

The difference between Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball is that Monkey Ball is an arcade game with only the Main Game, but Super Monkey Ball has the Main Game, three Party Games, and three unlockable Mini Games.

Plot

AiAi, MeeMee and Baby are a family of monkeys living peacefully on Jungle Island. One day, their island is invaded by GonGon, the leader of the gorillas planning to rob the island of it's banana source.

AiAi in a dream is told of a mystical paradise known as 'Banana Island' and takes his family to set out to find it. GonGon, greedily follows them through the various traps, hoping to get the banana horde for himself.

Trivia

• If playing as AiAi, MeeMee or Baby on the expert levels they will be able to go to Banana Island, however GonGon will be locked out.
• This is the only game in which GonGon plays an antagonistic role. It is also his debut appearance, as he did not appear in Monkey Ball.
