This is a more general overview of the members of Squad 7 with quick summary biographies.

For a more indepth view of Squad 7, including stats, all battle potentials and expanded biographies on some of the privates within the squad, please visit the Valkyria Wiki here.

Squad 7 are the main protagonist group of Valkyria Chronicles.

Main members[]

Lieutenant Welkin Gunther: Son of first Europan war hero, Belgen Gunther, Welkin is the nature loving squad leader of Squad 7. He views the squad as a second family, and often takes inspiration from nature for some of his more unusual military tactics. Adoptive brother of Isara Gunther, he was dragged into the war when he came to evacuate her during a visit to his hometown Bruhl. Here he met town watchman Alicia Melchiott, and the three of them managed to briefly impede the Imperial's invasion, before signing up for the Gallian militia together. Welkin gets on with Alicia Melchiott, Juno Coren and Dallas Wyatt.

Sergeant Alicia Melchiott: An orphan girl from Bruhl who had a dream of becoming a baker, prior to the war. She took up arms and became head of Bruhl's town watch, protecting the villagers from invaders. She suspects Welkin of being a spy at first, but soon the two team up to protect the town from Imperials. She, Welkin and Isara all sign up to the Gallian militia together, and she is often the one to keep the squad working together. She is keen to end the war so she can see peace restored and resume her dream of baking. Alicia is close with Welkin Gunther, Noce Wordsworth and Dallas Wyatt.

Sergeant Largo Potter: A European War 1 veteran alongside Eleanor Varrot, Largo refused promotion, happy to remain in Squad 7 as a lancer on the frontlines amongst he fellow soldiers. He believes the only thing a soldier needs is battle experience, which causes him to dislike Welkin at first who he believes is out of his depth as Squad Leader. After Operation Cloudburst however he begins to warm up to Welkin, and soon becomes one of his most loyal men. Largo has a dream of becoming a farmer after the war is over, having worked on his families as a child. He has a deep love of vegetables as a result. Largo is good friends with Brigitte "Rosie" Stark, Hannes Salinger and Jann Walker.

Corporal Brigitte "Rosie" Stark: A former bar singer, she was given the nickname of Rosie by the locals who would come to hear her music. Rosie lost her family in an imperial Darcsen Hunt that hit her village when she was a child. She blamed the Darcsen's for this lost, and ended up hating them well into her adult life. As a result she comes off horribly racist towards Isara Gunther at first, but through being forced to work alongside her, Rosie soon finds herself caring about Isara's well being and begins viewing Darcsen's in a new, more human light. Rosie's close companions are Largo Potter and Cherry Stijnen.

Corporal Isara Gunther: Adoptive sister of Welkin Gunther, Isara is an incredibly talented engineer and tank driver. Her biological father and adoptive father became heroes of the first Europan war together through their tank, The Edelweiss. Isara has been tinkering with the tank for a long time, upgrading it to pratice her own engineer skills. It is because of this Welkin, Alicia and herself managed to escape Bruhl unharmed and even managed to force a (temporary) retreat of the Imperials. As a Darcsen, Isara butts heads with Rosie a lot, forcing Rosie to question her views of the Darcsen people.

Sergeant Zaka: Despite his scary outward appearance, Zaka is a pacifist and a gentle indiviual who does not believe in revenge. He, like Isara, is a Darcsen and longs for the day when his people are treated as equals. He quickly forms bonds with other Darcsen members of the Squad. Zaka's good friends are other Darcsens, namely Lynn, Wavy and Nadine.

Captain Eleanor Varrot: Third regiment captain of the militia and direct superior to Welkin Gunther. She assigns Welkin, Alicia and Isara's positions within Squad 7. Fought in the first Europan war alongside Largo Potter. They were decorated for a mission where they defeated five tanks on their own. Whilst not playable in Valkyria Chronicles, she is playable in Valkyria Chronicles II and Valkyria Chronicles 3 where she is close allies with Largo Potter and Welkin Gunther(VC3 only).

Edy Detachment[]

The Edy Detachment is a squad of six Squad 7 members lead by Edy Nelson (Shocktrooper). The other members are Susie Evans (Scout), Lynn (Shocktrooper), Jann Walker (Lancer), Homer Peron (Engineer) and Marina Wulfstan (Sniper). They are amongst the most popular individuals of their classes and as such became the protagonists of Valkyria Chronicles DLC. Outside of the main members of Squad 7, they are the most reoccuring Gallian soldiers in the series.

Optional members[]

Scouts[]

Aika Thompson: A Scout that hails from a distant land. She has a never say die attitude, getting tougher when put in a corner. She is particularly close with Vyse Inglebard. Has a pollen allergy, but being around her friend group boosts her attack power. She also appears in Valkyria Chronicles 3. Good friends with Vyse Inglebard, Yoko Martens and Dallas Wyatt, although Fina Sellers is added to that list for Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Susie Evans: A scout from a rich family. She joined the militia to uphold her family's honour, however she's an incredibly passive individual that hates violence and seeing people hurt, even on the battlefield. She has absolutely no idea of the value of money as she has so much of it, which makes her a very generous individual since she thinks it grows on trees. Has the Humanitarian potential which makes her difficult to use, since after hurting someone she cannot take any other action. Susie is an incredibly popular character appearing in the Edy Detatchment, a ragtag group of popular Squad 7 members. She also appears as a unit in Valkyria Chronicles II and Valkyria Chronicles 3. Good friends with Elysse Moore and Knute Jung.

Musaad Mayfield: A veteran from the first Europan War, Musaad performed well in trenchwarfare being known as 'that damned mole' by his enemies. Hearing about Welkin's exploits convinced him to join the second Europan War as a matter of his own ego. Musaad is an unlockable unit. To unlock him, the player must beat the game once, and after which he will become available for subsequent playthroughs. He appears in the DLC Behind Her Blue Flame in which he's an enemy Ace. Musaad's close allies are Coby Caird and Nina Streiss.

Juno Coren: A classmate of Welkin Gunther, she shares his passion for science. Smart and beautiful she is the object of many an admirer's desires, but she only has eyes for Welkin. She once wrote her feelings down in a letter, but her pride prevented her from delivering it. She has the potential of 'Welkin Lover' which gives her a boost in accuracy when Welkin is close by. Juno's close allies are Welkin Gunther, Aisha Neumann and Catherine O'Hara.

Noce Wordsworth: Just like Alicia Melchiott, Noce was a captain in the town watch of Bruhl. He has had a crush on Alicia for the longest time, and so when Welkin Gunther burst into their lives he was not best pleased. Noce's hobbies include writing lyrics and ballards which he hopes will win Alicia's affections. Noce has the potential of 'Welkin Hater' which drops his accuracy when his love rival is in his immediate vicinity. Noce's close allies are Alicia Melchiott and Homer Peron.

Cherry Stijnen: Trends and pretty boys are her favourite things, and she is a huge fan of the magazine Ramona Linton used to star on the cover of, Gallian Girl Weekly, which naturally led to her becoming friends with her. She considers the free spirited Brigitte "Rosie" Stark to be an excellent role model for herself. Cherry has the potential of 'Rosie Lover' which will increase her attack power if standing near her hero. Cherry's close allies are Brigitte "Rosie" Stark, Ramona Linton and Ted Ustinov.

Ted Ustinov: A natural entertainer, Ted loves making people laugh. His goal in life is to become a full time clown after the war is over, but despite his efforts he's not been able to make the stoic sniper Marina Wolfstan laugh even once. Ted is the only unit in the game that gets boosted from being around both men and women, but has a rare metal allergy. He's good friends with fellow scouts Melville Young, Nancy Dufour and Cherry Stijnen.

Melville Young: A cheerful and friendly guy, Melville gets on well with just about everyone. He is particularly close friends with Ted Ustinov and the two often practice their clown routines together. The downside of his friendliness is he has the potential 'Chatty Cathy' which lowers his accuracy when near close allies due to a strong desire to chitchat with them. Melville is also a dedicated carnivore and has a particular fondness for porcavians, which is worrisome for Hans. He likes to give his close allies friendly nicknames calling Ted Ustinov both Teddybear and T-Bone, Alex Raymond both Alex-man and Al-man and Nina Streiss Ninaruni and Nins. He also refers to Welkin Gunther as both Welkster and Welk-man.

Nancy Dufour: A klutzy farmer girl. Nancy once dropped a basket containing 100 eggs, causing her father to nearly explode with anger. Her family once obtained a long haired mule, with many orders for the soft wool from paying customers. Nancy forgot to lock the stable door, and the mule escaped alongside. Her family were not impressed. Nancy is good friends with Ted Ustinov, Montley Leonard and Emile Bielert.

Ramona Linton: A former fashion model of popular magazine, Gallian Girl Weekly, Ramona is into everything that is 'in' right now. She used to sneak out the house at night to visit the city, but due to low blood pressure her mornings were always very rough. Ramona has a useful battle ability in 'Nocternal' that allows her to see in the dark as if it was midday. Her close allies are all fellow fashionistas in Edy Nelson, Audrey Heitinga and Cherry Stijnen.

Freesia York: Known by her nickname "Dancer of the Sands", Freesia roamed the deserts as a travelling entertainer until the Empire's attack killed her business. Freesia is a free spirit and is not used to having responsibilities or people relying on her as she lost both her parents at a young age. This comes out in a potential 'Under Pressure' which hinders her accuracy if she is the last soldier to act on a turn. She, like Ramona Linton, also has the useful ability in 'Nocternal'. Freesia's allies are Salinas Milton, Walter Nash and Emilie Bielert.

Hermes Kissinger: A pretty boy who has no trouble getting dates with his boundless charisma, Hermes unfortunately lacks the stamina to stay out too late, causing his dates to end earlier than the ladies he attracts would like. He started working as an Action Star, but his chronic fatigue prevented too much success. Nina Streiss is currently helping him work on his stamina. Hermes grew up on the open grasslands and thus hates cramped spaces giving him the 'Claustrophobic' potential. Despite his popularity with the ladies Hermes lacks any close allies.

Montley Leonard: An impatient young man with boundless energy, Montley fully believes in the phrase "Time is Money" and hates sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Like Hermes, he grew up on the grasslands surrounded by animals, although after an incident with a longhorn stag he has become deathly afraid of pointed objects making it difficult for him to be around Lancers without hyperventilating. His close allies are Nancy Dufour, Herbert Nielsen and ironically due to his fear of Lancer weapons, Jann Walker.

Wavy: A Darcsen teacher, Wavy is polite and discreet to a fault. He is completely devoted to his wife and infant child and joined the Militia in order to protect them. Wavy has the ability 'Darcsen Bond' which enhances his defensive capabilities when other Darcsen are nearby. He is close allies with both Zaka and Nadine.

Shocktroopers[]

Vyse Inglebard: A Shocktrooper that hails from a distant land. He is a daredevil thrill seeker and is particularly close with Aika Thompson. He has the personal potentials of Challenge Lover, which increases his attack power when charging into a dangerous situation and Born Leader which increases a natural boost in defence. Like Aika, he also appears in Valkyria Chronicles 3. Vyse is good friends with Aika Thompson, Hector Calvey and Alex Raymond(which is likely a fourth wall reference to Skies of Arcadia being codenamed 'Alex'), although Fina Sellers is added to that list in Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Edy Nelson: A Shocktrooper who is a self-proclaimed actress. She has a deep one sided rivalry with Brigitte "Rosie" Stark who she feels takes the spotlight away from her too much. In fact, having Rosie anywhere near Edy will cause Edy's attack to decrease due to her potential, 'Rosie Hater'. Edy is amongst the most popular side characters in Valkyria Chronicles, and as such she was given her starring role in the Edy Detachment DLC episodes, and appearing in Valkyria Chronicles II, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Chain Chronicle. Edy gets on well with Salinas Milton, Ramona Linton and Dallas Wyatt.

Lynn: A Shocktrooper of Darcesan descent, Lynn went into hiding from Imperial Darcesan hunters, although that changed when she heard the love of her life Karl Landzaat had brushed with death. She'd never even touched a gun prior to joining the militia but between Karl's explainations and her own strong work ethic she made impressive strides. Lynn is an unlockable unit. To unlock her: Karl Landzaat(an Engineer) must activate one of his potentials on the battlefield, and then be felled in combat. If done correctly, Lynn will be awaiting you in the command room. Lynn proved herself to be one of the more popular characters in Valkyria Chronicles and joins Edy Nelson in the Edy Detachment DLC. She's also unlockable in Valkyria Chronicles II and Valkyria Chronicles 3. Lynn gets on well with Karl Landzaat and Zaka.

Coby Caird: The eldest member of Squad 7 at 65 during the events of Valkyria Chronicles, Coby was the foreman of a carpentry company prior to joining the militia. He unfortunately suffered great losses in the first Europan war with his daughter being a casualty, and his back being badly injured. Alicia Melchiott resembles his lost daughter and thus Coby keeps his distance from her, finding her a constant reminder of that tragic time. Coby as a result has the potential of 'Alicia Hater' which causes a drop in evasion if she's around him. Coby's close allies are Musaad Mayfield, Yoko Martens and Catherine O' Hara.

Alex Raymond: A carefree young man who has a tendency to leap before he looks. Between this and his love of climbing up any tall tree he came across to get a clear view of the horizon, his friends in the squad have nicknamed him 'Bird'. Vyse's tales of the sky in particular captivate him leading them to be close friends. Alex has the potential 'Acrobat' which gives him a boost in attack power when in high places. Alex's close allies are Vyse Inglebard, Melville Young and Hector Calvey.

Salinas Milton: A handsome heartbreaker who cannot turn down any lady who asks him out, Salinas is also a huge tank aficionado and joined the militia to witness them up close. He chose Shocktrooper as his career path in order to better protect the tanks he loves from Lancers. Salinas has the battle potential of 'Tank Lover' which increases his attack power when standing next to one. He refers to himself as a knight to his close allies, all of whom are attractive young ladies; Edy Nelson, Freesia York and Audrey Heitinga.

Wendy Cheslock: A shut-in and insociable person, Wendy's greatest enjoyment comes from tinkering with explosives. Rumour has it she keeps a miniature bomb under her knitted cap. One day whilst getting overly zealous with an experiment with gunpowder Wendy accidentally blew her house to smithereens. She joined the militia as a Shocktrooper almost exclusively to test her explosives out. She does not get on with people and has the potential 'Outcast' which makes her evasion drop when near other Shocktroopers. Wendy has no close allies.

Hannes Salinger: Hannes grew up in a richly wooded area of Gallia, signing up immedietly upon hearing the Empire was threatening his homeland. Hannes has grown up self sufficient which has provided him with a strong body and strong endurance, although growing up around nature has made him miss out on many social cues, since he likes nothing more than to walk around bare footed and removes his uniform at any chance he gets. His close allies are Largo Potter, Jane Turner and Oscar Bielert.

Jane Turner: Originally a florist in Bruhl, Jane's shop was destroyed by the Imperial invasion. Any hesitation she may have felt once upon a time has faded away to make room for a sadistic pleasure in wiping out Imperials as she has grown to utterly hate the Empire and sees Imperials as less than human. Jane's close allies are other members who hate Imperials as much as her, namely Hannes Salinger and Oscar Bielert.

Aisha Neumann: The youngest member of Squad 7 at the age of 12, Aisha passed all her military training courses already. Incredibly smart and with high athleticism, she showed a strong desire to fight eventually making her accepted as an exception to the age restriction within the Gallian Militia. She wishes to be like Captain Eleanor Varrot someday. Aisha gets on well with Juno Coren, Yoko Martens and Claudia Mann.

Nina Streiss: A firm believer in one's body being the greatest tool anyone can have, Nina trains her body rigorously daily, having not missed a single days workout in nine years. The heavy armor on tanks and blast suits that Lancers wear runs counter to her philosophy and as a result she dislikes both. Recently started helping Hermes Kissinger get back into shape. Her close allies are Musaad Mayfield, Melville Young and despite being a Lancer, Rosina Selden who shares her love of working out.

Kevin Abbott: A skittish and introverted young man, Kevin originally tried to choose either the Engineer or Sniper role, but being naturally indecisive he couldn't choose between them and was assigned the role of Shocktrooper by default. He is close friends with Karl Landzaat and Cezary Regard, an engineer and a sniper, the two professions he originally wanted to be.

Dorothy Howard: A shy girl, she gets stage fright when being looked at by too many people and her body is frailer than normal too. Her dream is to become a jewellery designer, but her shyness prevents her from creating her own brand. Dorothy's close friends are Claudia Mann and Mica Hawkins.

Mica Hawkins: Naturally pessimistic and overly neurotic, Mica has a great eye for detail and his obsessiveness over minute details make Mica a skilled machinist, albeit terrible company. As a result his one close ally is Dorothy Howard.

Lancers[]

Jann Walker: Jann loves muscles first and foremost. He has an intense crush on Largo Potter, constantly fussing around Largo and providing him with meals and treats. Largo, for his part, just believes Jann is being a nice guy completely misundstanding Jann's true affections for him. One of Jann's potentials, Largo Lover, even involves Largo being around to give him a boost in attack power. Jann ended up becoming one of the most popular Lancers in the game, and as such was placed in the Edy's Detachment DLC. Jann gets on well with Largo Potter, Montley Leonard and Walter Nash.

Yoko Martens: Yoko used to own an eatery before she became involved in the Milita. Despite her age she did not take part in the first Europan war. Yoko's ex-husband looked a lot like Largo Potter, which causes her to avoid him. She has the opposite potential to Jann Walker, in that having Largo around her makes her attack drop in power. Yoko has the highest accuracy of all the lancers, and gets on well with Aika Thompson, Aisha Neumann and Coby Caird.

Elysse Moore: Elysse is a usually laid back individual making it quite difficult for her to build up momentum. However, when she's built up steam, she is incredibly dedicated and focused. The daughter of a fencing instructor, her father suggested she enlisted to harden her psyche. Elysse has some of the best anti tank battle potentials out there including 'Tank Killer' which raises her accuracy around tanks 'Double Tank Damage' which allows her attacks do do damage to both the body and tread of an enemy tank, and 'Ultimate Anti-Armor' which permenantly increases her attack power against tanks. Elysse's close allies are Susie Evans, Homer Peron and Ramsey Clement.

Walter Nash: Despite his looks, Walter is a gentle soul who enjoys baking with Alicia Melchiott in his days off, and tending his garden. Walter is a little moodswingy, and his confidence in himself can drop in an instance making him severely depressed. In fact, he has the potentials of both 'Cocky', which causes him to get overconfident dropping his evasion at full health and 'Pessimist', which lowers his defence at less than half health to illustrate this personality quirk. He dreams of opening a restaurant after the war is over. Walter's closest allies are Jann Walker and Freesia York.

Nils Daerden: Nils is a lone wolf from the seedy underbelly of Gallia's capital city and is the indesputable turf war champion. A handsome man, Nils has no end of women trying to tempt him off his solitary lifestyle, but these attempts only seem to irritate him. As a lone wolf type, he has no close allies and prefers to work without distractions.

Rosina Selden: Seen as a big sister type to many of the female members of Squad 7, she has earnt the affectionate nickname of Lady Rose. Rosina enjoys working out in her spare time and is really into macho men. As muscles are her entire world, she views the generally far slender Darcsen race as inferior. Her close allies are fellow train-a-holic Nina Streiss and fellow Lancer Hector Calvey.

Hector Calvey: Like Alicia Melchiott and Noce Wordsworth he was once the head of the local watch in his own home town. Gifted with a natural talent for leading, Hector managed to route a group of imperials with only a handful of allied soldiers at his side. He generally seems to prefer a small more intimate squad to work with than larger groups. He dreams of starting up his own shipping company after the war. His close allies are Vyse Inglebard, Alex Raymond and Rosina Selden.

Theold Bohr: Coming from an impoverished childhood, Theold holds the importance of wealth above everything else, making him join the militia in order to be seen as a war hero. He has a strong hatred for the Darcsen having grown up in an isolated village and see's them as heretics. He also enjoys torment and bullying those weaker than him such as Kevin Abbott, but is quick to back down against stronger rivals. All around, Theold is a rather hate filled person so it's unsurprising he finds himself without any close allies.

Audrey Heitinga: Audrey signed up to the militia after hearing about the many exploits of Welkin Gunther. Naturally easily swept up in trends, reading about his adventures made her join Squad 7 as a lancer. Despite her dainty looking body, she's capable of crushing a watermelon with her bare hands. Audrey is an unlockable unit. To unlock Audrey, the player must have obtained ten medals in total(obtainable after Chapter 9). Audrey's allies are Welkin Gunther, Salinas Milton and Ramona Linton.

Engineers[]

Homer Peron: A frail but handsome boy, Homer has a weaker weaker condition that would make many think he was not cut out for the army, but he has a strange maschochistic personality, making him feel joy the more dire a situation he is in. As a result he seeked out joining the milita despite his family begging him not to in order to face all manner of hardships. Homer is amongst the most popular Engineers in Valkyria Chronicles and as such was placed into the Edy Detachment DLC. He has a sadist sister, Leila Peron who appears in Valkyria Chronicles 3. Homer gets on well with Noce Wordsworth, Elysse Moore and Knute Jung.

Karl Landzaat: A former ironsworker, Karl is rather meek, but chooses to help the Gallian milita as an Engineer in order to bring peace so he and his lover Lynn can live happily together. Karl is used to unlock Lynn in the game; by unlocking a potential and then being felled(and rescued) in battle, Lynn will join Squad 7 in order to protect him. Karl gets on well with Lynn and Kevin Abbott. Notably he is the only non Darcsen buddy any Darcsen unit has.

Claudia Mann: Naturally unlucky, Claudia finds herself to constantly be on the recieving end of Lady Luck's fickle foot. Since bad things happened to her every time she left home, she decided just to stay at home and become a shut in...but then her house was destroyed thanks to a stray tank shell. Claudia, feeling like she might be able to help people attempted to become a nurse, but natural disasters kept getting in the way of her taking the exam. Claudia gets on well with Aisha Neumann and Dorothy Howard.

Dallas Wyatt: Raised in an all-girl school, Dallas is not particularly used to unrefined men, and as a result is irritated by them easily. She takes quite the shining to Alicia Melchiott, developing a crush on her and following her around like a puppy dog hoping to marry her one day and live together in a home surronded by flowers. As a result Dallas has the 'Alicia Lover' potential which boosts her evasion when Alicia is around. Dallas' close allies, as you'd expect are all girls, namely Alicia Melchiott, Edy Nelson and Aika Thompson.

Knute Jung: Obsessed with money and little else, Knute joins Squad 7 after deciding Welkin smelt like a gold mine. When enlisting he chose the position of Engineer simply to help him control the supply chain. Knute is an unlockable unit. To obtain him the player must have accumulated a million DCT. Simply entering the command room after this will have Knute sign up. Knute's close allies are Susie Evans, Homer Peron and Cezary Regard. Susie is rich and doesn't understand the value of money and Cezary once injured himself in the pursuit of money.

Herbert Nielsen: Growing up in the desert region, Herbert's days were dictated by the weather. As a result of such an upbringing, he absolutely refuses to exert himself more than necessary. If he's feeling unmotivated no force on earth can get him to do what he's asked. He once took up horse riding lessons just because he wasn't motivated to walk to where he wanted to travel to. As a result he's ended up a talented horse rider. Herbert is good friends with Montley Leonard and Ramsey Clement.

Ramsey Clement: With a love for tinkering with all things mechanical ever since she was a little girl, Ramsey enrolled in a technical university. Unfortunately she also lacks a keen eye for detail and the ability to focus, and as such a lot of the machines she tinkers with have a nasty habit of breaking down. To counter this she attempted to come up with a machine that would not require maintenance but grew bored of the project half way through. Ramsey's close friends are fellow lazy bones Herbert Nielsen and Elysse Moore.

Nadine: A Darcsen with a master's degree in literature, her hope for the future is to become an accomplished author of a romance novel that will appeal to the masses, Darcsen and otherwise. She has a strong sense of responsibility and loyalty to those who earn her trust. As such she always performs her maintainance to the very best of her abilities. She is good friends with fellow Darcsens Zaka and Wavy.

Snipers[]

Marina Wulfstan: A skilled sniper, Marina learnt to hunt from her father. She's a lone wolf type, seeing idle chit chat and distracting on the battlefield, and can even scare off the usually enthusiastic chatterbox Ted Ustinov with a single glare. Despite her anti social tendencies with people and status as a hunter, Marina has a soft spot for small animals and will try to nurse back to health any injured animal she finds. Marina is amongst the most popular Valkyria Chronicles characters and thus was placed into the Edy Detachment DLC. Incidentally at level 20, she's by far the most accurate sniper too. A natural loner, she doesn't like to be around anyone.

Oscar Bielert: 15 year old sniper, Oscar enlisted in order to keep his sickly brother safe. Attempts to act strong willed but he is in actual fact easily spooked, with both thunder and mice terrifying him. The scar on his forehead is from a time he protected his brother Emile, at a young age. He wanted to become a doctor in order to cure Emile's condition, but the Imperial's declaration of war has put that dream on hold. Oscar can be used to unlock Emile as a playable character. To do so, he must be defeated after unlocking a potential on the battlefield and subsequently rescued. Emile, despite his sickness will sign up to help keep Oscar safe. Oscar gets on well with Emile Bielert, Hannes Salinger and Jane Turner.

Emile Bielert: Oscar's brother, upon hearing Oscar was taking bullets to try and keep him safe, Emile, feeling guilty of being a burden on Oscar signed up himself to fight alongside Oscar on the battlefield. Emile has had a severe medical condition since birth that makes him particularly sickly. Emile is an unlockable unit. To unlock Emile, Oscar must be defeated in battle upon unlocking his potential and subsequently rescued. After which Emile will appear in the command room. Emile gets on well with Oscar Bielert, Nancy Dufour and Freesia York.

Catherine O' Hara: A veteran from the first Europan war, Catherine didn't hesitate to sign up again to fight for her people. She cherishes her bonds with her comrades above all else, and was deeply traumatised by a situation in the first war where she ran out of ammo, leaving her to helplessly watch a close ally get killed that she could have otherwise saved. As a result she becomes extremely anxious without a loaded bullet in her gun. Her close allies are Coby Caird and Juno Coren.

Cezary Regard: Always looking out for number one, Cezary chose the Sniper path in order to keep himself at a safer distance from all the chaos of the battlefield. Ever since he fell from the Barious Desert's ruins as a child he has developed a fear of heights. Cezary's close allies are Kevin Abbott and Knute Jung.

Other[]

Fina Sellers: A well loved gentle-touch medic who is often seen socialising with Vyse Inglebard and Aika Thompson. Whilst not actively controllable, she(or one of her fellow identical triplets; Mina Sellers and Gina Sellers) will arrive on the scene if a character has run out of HP, and a fellow squad member makes it to their body. In Valkyria Chronicles 3, she is a recruitable character after the player has beaten the main game. She gets on best with Vyse Inglebard and Aika Thompson unsurprisingly.

Hans: A particuarly small male porcavian(a type of pig with wings) piglet, Alicia Melchiott finds him in the woods and adopts him as Squad 7's mascot. He naturally likes snug spaces and constantly nestles into Alicia or Isara's scarves. Porcavian's despite their wings are not able to fly normally, but there have been reports of Hans being spotted in the skies at night. He is the only member of Squad 7 that Marina Wulfstan willingly spends time with.
