Spike Jr. is a reoccurring character in the SpikeOut series, the son of Spike, and the protagonist of SpikeOut: Battle Street.

Appearance[]

SpikeOut: Digital Battle Online[]

Spike Jr. is a 5 year old child dressed in dungarees, a red t-shirt with vertical white stripes on the sleeves over a yellow horizontal striped long sleeve shirt. He wears orange trainers with white soles, and wears his hair in corn rows.

SpikeOut: Battle Street[]

Now ten years older, Spike Jr. is far taller and more muscular. He wears street gear; a black vest with a SpikeOut logo across the chest over another green vest, a black wristband on his right arm and a thin black wrist strap on his left, a pair of magenta baggy pants, a black sweat band and matching trainers, dyed blonde short hair, and a pair of headphones around his neck.

History[]

Spike Jr. was born when his father, a boxer, Spike was only 22, and after splitting from his mother, they moved to Diesel Town, a small island town in America. Spike, seeking employment to raise Jr on his own as a single dad, ended up finding employment in factory alongside White. Not long after, a gang from a neighbouring city known as 'Team Inferno' arrived, and began a hostile takeover of Diesel Town, taking out the local gangs.

Spike, alongside White, Linda and Tenshin formed a team of their own to take on Team Inferno and take back the town. At age 5, Spike Jr. tagged along, clinging to his father's back during the gang war, mimicking his father's moves whenever he would fall from the safety of Spike's back. Through mimicking his father's brawling techniques, Spike Jr. learnt how to fight from a very early age and was present at the defeat of Team Inferno's leader; Mikhael.

After Team Inferno are defeated in the following ten years, Spike Jr leaves Diesel Town, presumably to live with his mother. Here he met Min Hua, a chinese transfer student who developed a crush on him.

At age 15, his father mysteriously went missing and he was contacted by Linda, who informed him that Team Inferno had returned under their new guise; 'Team Neo Inferno' who had placed a bounty on Spike's head. Linda pleads with Spike Jr. to help her locate his father and protect Diesel Town. Jr., cross with his father, refuses to help look for Spike, but does promise to protect the town in his stead.

During his fight against Team Neo Inferno, Spike Jr. forms his own team with Min Hua, who had followed him to Diesel Town, Jackal, a street fighter from Diesel Town with his own grudge against Team Neo Inferno and Fiona, a secret assassin unbeknownst to Jr, sent to eliminate Spike for 'endangering the island'. He also meets up with the former members of Team Spike, before finally coming across Spike.

Through the actions of Jr., Fiona realises Spike is not the threat she was told he was, and goes against her mission to assassinate him. With that settled, Spike encourages Spike Jr. to go and finish the fight against Team Neo Inferno with his new team. Jr. decides on the name 'Team Neo Spike' as he faces off against Team Neo Inferno's leader, Mikhael.

Spike Jr. manages to beat Mikhael, who upon his defeat see's Jr. as his father. Spike congratulates his son on his victory, handing him a can of spraypaint, and encouraging him to add the word 'Neo' to a Team Spike graffiti, passing the torch of Diesel Town's protector to his son and his new friends.

Trivia[]

  • Spike Jr. features in the credit sequence for SpikeOut: Final Edition where he runs at sunset across a grassy hill, at one point tripping and falling face first onto the floor, at one point being chased by a big dog, and another stopping to pet a puppy before finally leaping onto Spike's back.
  • Spike Jr. whilst not a selectable character in SpikeOut: Digital Battle Online, is controllable when thrown off of Spike's back, as he will mimic any inputs his father performs. These attacks don't do any damage to the enemies however, and this appears to be an aesthetic addition.
  • When Spike is defeated in SpikeOut: Digital Battle Online and SpikeOut: Final Edition, Spike Jr. will throw a tantrum on the ground.
  • Spike Jr. is missing from Spike's back in Spikers Battle.
