Sonic Drift 2 was the first Sonic racing game released to the United States. The first Sonic Drift was a Japan only release until it was ported on the Sonic Mega Collection Plus. Sonic Drift 2 was released to the Game Gear only and was eventually succeeded by Sonic R.

- One notable bug in the game is a slight misspelling of Knuckles' name. The second K was taken out due to space limits for names.
