Sin Chronicle (シン・クロニクル) was a Japanese exclusive mobile RPG game released in 2022 for IOS/Android and a spiritual successor to Chain Chronicle. The game's servers officially shut down on May 31st 2023.

Plot[]

The world has been overcome by the black army. In response, the citizens of this world build a great wall to keep the monsters out. Whilst protecting the wall from the creatures, Ream takes a fall and nearly dies.

On the brink of death, Ream is saved by a magical tome which grants him the power to see the future. He is overtaken by visions of his allies being slaughtered by the Black Army. To prevent their fated demises, Ream and his friends must make incredibly difficult choices, and power themselves up.

Gameplay[]

Sin Chronicle was a turn based JRPG. The major selling point being the ability to choose between two fates near each chapters ending. This affected who lived, who died and ultimately decided on how the player's individual story would play out with only one opportunity to decide and no reset option.

Sin Chronicle's combat is turn based but allowed players to walk around in the battle to gain better position, or move around to make it harder to enemies to hit them.

Each character has three different skills they can choose from. By filling up their overdrive meter they can release a powerful special ability. With each successful hit, the characters would build up their Chain Meter. The higher the chain count, the more damage dealt. However this is reset if the player takes damage.

After defeating a boss battle area, the player characters will sit around a campfire, allowing the player to interact with the cast and unlock story paths or increase stats of player characters.

Characters could upgrade their gear and spirits from the main menu from items they'd gained in game.

As a gacha title, Sin Chronicle had a gem based currency system used for summoning new units.

Some major story elements were locked to certain gacha pull characters, effectively locking story aspects off from players who were unlucky with their pulls or made certain decisions during the chapter end.

Trivia[]

  • This title was outlived by it's predecessor, Chain Chronicle.
  • The banner pulls on this particular gacha were notoriously short, making it difficult for Free 2 Play players to pull on these limited time banners.
  • Sin Chronicle's cast are being added into Chain Chronicle.
