History[]

Past[]

As a child, a young Sakura Amamiya was assaulted by a demon at her home underneath a cherry blossom tree. Just as the demon was about to kill her, she was saved by the Imperial Combat Revue member Sakura Shinguji. Ever since that day, Sakura Amamiya has been trying to follow in her idol's footsteps, training in swordsplay and following her dream to become a great actress.

She was friends with both Seijuro Kamiyama and Hatsuho Shinonome in her youth, having made an important promise with the former in the same spot she had been attacked and playing with the latter a lot at the Shinonome shrine. However a fight with the latter over a traditional dance caused a rift between Sakura and Hatsuho that kept them apart for many years.

After the great demon war ended, Sakura decided to join the Imperial Combat Revue and become a member of the Flower Division, once again following Sakura Shinguji's footsteps. Here she met back up with Hatsuho and mended their relationship, as well as fellow Flower Division members, Clarissa Snowflake and Azami Mochizuki. The Imperial Combat Revue Theatre was in dire straits having lost all of it's core members to the Great Demon War apart from Sumire Kanzaki who became their official commander. Sakura's endless optimism and positive attitude proved vital in keeping the new Imperial Combat Revue together during this period as both Hatsuho and Clarissa had considered quitting at one point or another.

Determined to get the Imperial Theatre back to it's best, Sakura threw herself into any acting role she was given. Unfortunately she is also extremely clumsy and has on more than one occasion brought the house down (literally) by tripping over set pieces or stumbling into her fellow actors.

Sakura Wars (2019)[]

Sakura was sweeping the front of the Imperial Theatre one day when her childhood friend, Seijuro Kamiyama happened by, summoned by Sumire Kanzaki to be the new captain for the team. Believing he is here to fulfill his childhood promise to become the captain and protect her, Sakura is overjoyed.

Sakura also starts to make great strides in her acting when Sumire hires Anastasia Palma, famed acting starlet as their newest leading lady. After a while she manages to convince the Anastasia to change her mind on becoming an acting coach for the team and through hard work and practice eventually becomes good enough for Anastasia to suggest putting forth as the leading lady for the Christmas play.

Sakura's endless optimism hits a wall however when she comes across Yasha, a young woman who appears to be Sakura Shinguji in disguise and is working with the demons. Through their interactions, Sakura is nearly killed by Yasha, her mugen destroyed, her dream crushed and the stage demolished. She slips into a deep depression which causes her to lash out at both Hatsuho and Seijuro, with the former two engaging in a fist fight over it. Through Hatsuho's words, Sakura realises her dream was never to become Sakura Shinguji, but to protect the people of Tokyo the same was Shinguji had, and if Shinguji had strayed from that path, Sakura would just have to drag her back onto it herself.

Sakura goes on to play the lead for the Christmas play, performing outside since the stage inside is destroyed and manages to do an impressive job. She finds out Anastasia is planning to leave after the play and thanks her for all that she has done to teach her. However, when Anastasia disappears, so too does Sakura's sword. When it is revealed Anastasia has stolen it and shot Reiji Shiba, the remaining Flower Division members chase after her to bring her back, unable to believe she'd betray them.

This mission puts Sakura into conflict once more with Yasha, who showcases her cruelty by cutting Anastasia down after revealing they were on the same side. Anastasia reveals she was to bring the sword to Yasha in exchange for Yasha to reunite her with her deceased family using her demonic powers. When Yasha flees, stealing Sakura's sword and putting a curse on everyone's mugens to deactivate them, Sakura, Seijuro and the others rush Anastasia back to the Imperial Theatre to save her life.

With Shadow Tokyo now released, it is revealed that Sakura's sword is the Imperial Key, vital to locking and unlocking Shadow Tokyo's seal. Tekkan, Sakura's father shows up and suggests they can make another key which should deactivate the powers of the previous. Happy they have an easy solution to save the world, Sakura celebrates only for Tekkan to reveal in order to do so he needs to sacrifice Sakura's life. The Amamiya women have strong spiritual powers through their soul that when fused into a blade can lock or unlock the shadow seal.

Sakura stunned, asks what Tekkan is talking about, who reveals that Sakura's blade contains the soul of her mother, and that he killed her to forge the blade and seal the Archdemon away during the great Demon War. Sumire's commanding officers demand Sakura gives her life up in order to save millions of lives, but Seijuro refuses to let this happen, declaring there must be another way. Tekkan insists this is the only way and Seijuro snaps at him telling him he's too quick to throw his daughters life away. Instead, Seijuro offers to go on a one man mission to prevent Shadow Tokyo's seal from weakening any further as his Mugen is the only one Reiji managed to fix. Anastasia, who has barely recovered from her injuries, offers to help to right her wrongs, as Yasha didn't think to damage her Mugen. Seijuro agrees and tells Sakura and the others to join them as soon as their Mugens are recovered.

Sakura's Obu is the last to be fixed, and she joins the others to fight against Yasha, demanding to know if she is who she thinks she is. Yasha cuts down Anastasia, killing her as Sakura screams for her mentor. Claris then takes a fatal blow meant for Azami, prompting Azami to want to take down Yasha herself to avenge Claris, but she in turn is killed when her afterimage technique fails to work on the demon. Sakura and Seijuro lose all hope as Yasha laughs about how pitiful humans are. However, Hatsuho steps up rebuking each of Yasha's points, and using all of her strength manages to smash the Spiracle Stone, cutting her power supply from Sotetsu Genan and greatly weakining her. Hatsuho leaves the rest to Sakura and Seijuro, dying with a smile. Now without her power source, Sakura and Seijuro cut Yasha down and out of her mech, leading to a one on one sword duel between Sakura and Yasha. Yasha's mask drops revealing she's not Sakura Shinguji, and with this new knowledge, Sakura Amamiya cuts her down with a single sword strike exchange. Yasha's body falls to the ground, disintigrating into ash as a lock of Shinguji's hair is left behind.

Upon Yasha's defeat, Sakura and Seijuro are transported to the past to Sakura's home. They comment they can see the Great Demon War in the horizon, and Sakura notes that the tree where she nearly died at is unscathed. The two of them come across Sakura's mother, Hinata Amamiya, and Sakura embraces her asking her to not sacrifice her life and leave her. Hinata, seeing her grown up daughter refers to it as a miracle, but becomes even more determined to do so in order for the Sakura she see's before her to be able to live a good life. She asks Seijuro to look after her daughter, to which he agrees. Sakura see's the demon approach who attacked her as a child and saves her past self in Shinguji's place, telling her to hold on to the feelings she felt during this save as they will help mold her into who she will be in the future. Seijuro calls to Sakura that they need to go as their mechas appear in a time portal. Sakura and Seijuro get into their Obu and Mugen and are thrown back through time to the present. On the way back, they are attacked by the Archdemon's hand, but saved by Sakura Shinguji's sakura blossom power, which both blasts the Archdemon's hand apart and has a flower petal revive each of the fallen Flower Division members.

Sakura Amamiya thanks her hero and after regrouping with Hatsuho, Claris, Azami and Anastasia they start on their final battle against Sotetsu Genan. Clearing out his armies, the Flower Division members (with some help from the Berlin, London and Shanghai combat revues) activate all of the points needed, with Sakura using the Imperial Key to weaken the demon enough for Seijuro to finish him off and seal Shadow Tokyo away once more.

Sakura and the other Flower Division members join Seijuro on stage, and they end with a huge pagent contest that has the female members of each revue dancing at a concert, whilst Seijuro watches with pride from the audience.

If Sakura is made vice captain, she will get a letter requesting a transfer to the Shanghai Combat Revue. She boards an ocean liner and waves goodbye to her team mates. Seijuro, who only just found out about the transfer, drives a car to the docks shouting out to her that he won't let her leave. Sakura dives into the ocean, as Seijuro crashes the car into the water. They embrace as the other Flower Division members throw petals at them and kiss.

Trivia[]

  • Sakura has become adept at sewing due to a need to repair the costumes for the Flower Division's performances.
  • Sakura is said to have an incredibly high spirit energy, surpassing even Sakura Shinguji.
  • Sakura's hair ribbon is a keepsake of her mother, Hinata Amamiya.
  • If Seijuro stands Sakura up she will creepily walk towards him warning him he's broken a promise. When Seijuro states he doesn't recall what promise she broke she will tell him that promises mean nothing to him anyway, surround herself in dark spiritual energy and creepily walk backwards in a demonic manner.
    • Promises in general seem to be a big sticking point for Sakura, as she will even hold Seijuro to promises he made years ago when he was a child, regardless of whether he remembers them or not.
  • Sakura is the only girl from the Flower Division who does not die in the fight with Yasha.
