Quartet is a multiplayer co-operative run and gun, shoot em up game released in arcades and ported to the Master System.

Plot[]

A quartet of warriors have been sent to clear out space colony Zero-6 which has been overtaken by Space Pirates and retrieve the late Princess Cynthia's casket.

Gameplay[]

In the arcade version players are assigned a character dependent on their player number.

Player 1 will play as Lee, dressed in blue. He has a wide beam as his ammo type.

Player 2 will play as Joe, dressed in yellow. His ammo is a speed gun and shoots the fastest.

Player 3 will play as Mary, dressed in red. She has access to a bazooka.

Player 4 will play as Edger, dressed in green. He has access to a 'miracle gun' which has a slight arch to it.

Along the way players will be able to pick up various pick ups that will increase their jump height, speed or even obtain a jet pack allowing them to hover through the air with ease as they blast their opponents down. However, being touched once will be enough to have the power ups knocked out of them, and they'll need to retrieve the power up to use it again.

The goal is to blast your way through the endless spawning enemies, defeat the boss Space Pirate at the end of each stage and obtain the key allowing the quartet to continue deeper into Zero-6.

The Master System version removes both Lee and Joe from the playable cast and reduces the players from four to two, with Mary and Edger as the only playable characters. There are new unique boss battles in this version although the monster generators have been removed.
