Puzzle & Action: Ichidant-R is a puzzle and action game developed and published by Sega for the arcades and Game Gear in 1994.
Plot[]
The princess has been kidnapped by an evil knight, and it's up to the two royal guards to rescue her by beating a multitude of mini-games and puzzles.
Gameplay[]
There are twenty mini games with a selection of four popping up at any single point. The player who won the previous mini game will get to stop the rotating selection and thus choose the next mini game to play.
The mini games themselves are varied and include:
- Picking up three gold pitchers in a crane game puzzle whilst moving broken pitchers
- Organising a tower of golden frogs in height order
- Building a space ship with the right parts
- Pairing monkeys
- Selecting two of the same rice crackers
- Helping a bird eat all the apples in a tree and returning to their nest safely
- Guiding a composer during a symphony
- Counting the number of passengers on a speeding train
- Stopping a car as close to the edge of a cliff as possible
- Finding a girl's silouette in a window
- Selecting the batter who hits the most baseballs
- Trying to imitate a cowboy's shooting pattern
- Trying to stab bouncy balls in size order to make a dango
- Using trap doors to make your way through a maze
- Shooting down UFOs
- Helping guide a train around a track to pick up the most coins by rotating the track
- Finding a coffin that matches the description to find and hunt down vampires
- Counting sea creatures
- Speed pencil sharpening
- Match the path the thief took to catch him
After four mini games, the players beat that round, defeat the boss trying to hold them up and engage in a side scrolling platformer style game that can net them more lives, before moving on to the next round of four mini games.
This continues until the last game in which the player must try to break down the evil King's throne whilst dodging his fireball attacks.
After defeating the final boss whoever wins the most mini games wins the princesses hand and is declared the overall winner.
Trivia[]
- This game is part of the Nintendo Switch's Sega Ages line.
- It was included as a built in game in the Astro City Mini. It's untranslated from it's native Japanese but contains a brief explaination in English in western releases.
