Plot[]

It is the year 1284 A.W, a young Numen by the name of Nei, roams the wilderness and towns looking for a place to rest. The people of the planet Motavia hated the bio monster blood that flowed through her veins. Wherever she went she was looked with disdain.

Six months prior to the events of this, Nei's adoptive parents, a kind middle age couple, had been killed by an angry mob who had chased Nei with torches, forcing her to flee to her home and upon her arriving there the mob set her adoptive parents' house on fire. Whilst the husband and wife allowed Nei to escape from the dust chute, they themselves were unable to escape. When Nei emerged from the sewers that day she saw her home consumed by a raging inferno in the distance. Alone and scared, Nei burned the memory of the head of the mob into her memory, a man with a scar on his cheek.

Arriving at the Gates of Paseo after walking through the shimmering heat, Nei takes the sight in before entering. She see's statues of Alis Landale and Myau (from the original Phantasy Star) in the middle of the plaza and a large impressive tower. It isn't long until Nei is met with more disdain from the the citizens of Paso however and she is forced to move along once more.

Coming across a weapons shop, Nei over hears a hunter excited about a new weapon he's obtained and that he wants to try it out on a long earred biomonster. Paying him no heed and walking into the weapons shop, Nei ends up being hit in the back by a tranquilizer dart and losing conciousness. Realising he cannot make money off of Nei as she's not a true biomonster, the hunter dumps her unconcious body in a vacant lot surrounded by garbage and patrolled by a rabid dog. When Nei awakens the dog is bearing down on her.

Nei manages to defeat the dog with a nearby plank of wood, and leaves the lot, entering the city once more. The majority of the people of the city fear and dread Nei seeing her as a monster.

Along the way she does meet a few people who are willing to treat her well, a child named 'Kid', a soldier who gives her a silver bullet pendant, a pair of kittens and a young man. The weapons shop owner offers Nei a legendary 'Animal Claw' weapon if she is willing to part with the silver bullet pendant, but for the most part, she is shooed away by people, described as a disgusting creature and hunted down by the very same scarred man who killed her adoptive parents as she journeys through this city.

Nei is forced to flee into the sewers, and upon returning to the surface she witnesses that man murdering a scientist through the window of a lab, demanding payment from him for all the hunting services he's provided. Nei lays low until the hunter leaves and creeps through the window to the dying scientist.

With his dying breath, the scientist reveals that he and Nei's adoptive parents were trying to create a biomonster with human intelligence. They created, and Nei was the result. The scientist reveals that he thought she was a failed experiment and hired the scarred man to hunt her down and kill her. He apologises to her with his dying breath and hands her a potion that can be sold for a high price.

Nei uses the money she obtains from the potion to upgrade her animal claw, before entering a field...and coming face to face with the scarred hunter once more. He claims he has no need to hunt Nei anymore as her head is no longer worth any money. He then cocks his gun and adds with a grin that he'll still hunt her down as she's an eyesore. Nei, having watched this man kill all three people responsible for her birth and threatened with certain death once again, finally snaps and attacks him with the upgraded animal claw. She eventually defeats him, but is left exhausted and turns to leave.

Suddenly she is pushed aside forcefully by a young man with a sword. The hunter had a little more life left in him and had attempted to take her life whilst her back was turned. Nei, out of sheer exhaustion recognises the young man as the one who had been kind to her earlier and passes out.

When she awakes she is in his home, safe. The Hunter has been handed in to authorities and the young man offers Nei a home with him as he also was an orphan who lacked family. The young man was named Rolf.

Nei felt a great amount of relief, and discovered in such a short time both her body and mind had grown greatly. No longer would she be forced to wander aimlessly through the wastelands or fall asleep terrified and paranoid out in the open...finally she had a home and a place she felt she belonged.

Seven months later, Rolf and Nei would both depart on a journey that would shake the world...
