Paddle Fighter is an air hockey style sports game released exclusively in Japan for the Mega Drive in 1991.
Gameplay[]
In single player, players play as Binbowie as they attempt to claim victory in an air hocket tournament.
The game plays out as a standard air hockey title with a twist; over time the goals will expand to impossible to defend widths, you can activate goal blocking forcefields and uniquely, every character has a special move.
Binbowie starts with the "Suction Paddle Shot" which when activated it allows them to magnetise the puck to their paddle, draws it into the center and allows them to fire directly forward.
Both this special move and the goal blocking forcefields use the same energy bar allowing you to perform three 'force' abilities in total allowing for strategic play on how you use your limited energy.
The first character to score seven goals against their opponent wins.
If Binbowie wins against their opponent they can take their opponents special move and use that instead of their 'Suction Paddle Shot' allowing for some customization, although some special moves are more effective against the other players than the CPU, such as the "Multi Puck" special ability, which has other fake pucks shoot out of the real one causing visual confusion.
In two player, each player can select from one of eight characters each with their own special ability.
Trivia[]
- This title was released originally exclusively through Sega Meganet.
