Out Run (アウトラン Auto Ran) is a series of arcade racing games published by Sega and created by Yu Suzuki. The series has received critical acclaim and massive commercial success


with the original Out Run receiving the 1986 Game Of The Year award.

  • Alex Kidd : High-Tech World - 1989, Master System. At the end of the game Alex Kidd is shown to be playing an Out Run arcade machine and commenting on how fun Sega games are.
  • Shenmue - 1999, Dreamcast. Ryo Hazuki can play Out Run in the arcades.
  • Shenmue II - 2001, Dreamcast. Ryo Hazuki can play Out Run in the arcades.
  • Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing - 2010, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Windows, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, Arcade, BlackBerry, Java ME. The Out Run red ferrari is driven by Virtua Fighter stars Jacky Bryant and Akira Yuki. In the DS version Jacky alone drives the vehicle, although Akira turns up for the All-Star move.
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - 2012, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, iOS, Android. Whilst Jacky and the Out Run vehicle do not return as racers, one of the tracks is based around Out Run 2006 - Coast 2 Coast. Additionally Ryo Hazuki uses the OutRun cabinet as his new racing vehicle during car segments.
  • Power Drift - 2016, 3DS. The Out Run Flag Man is a playable racer in the Japanese eShop version of the game.
  • Two Point Hospital - 2018. Windows, Mac OS, Linux. The Out Run cabinet is an entertainment item used to lower patients boredom during the wait to be seen and cured by doctors.
  • 404 Game Re:Set - 2023, Mobile. Both an Anode and Cathode personification of Out Run appear in the game. The Cathode version is a particularly notable character as she is the very first boss, and is responsible for killing the protagonist and dragging him into the 404 Game Re:Set world.
