Not to be confused with the arcade title of the same name.
Laser Ghost is a light gun compatible game for the Master System released in 1991 by Sega, exclusively in the European regions.
Plot[]
"Somewhere between life and death there lies a city of goblins and ghosts. It's a city that appears every 13 years when it's evil dwellers thirst for a living soul."
Catherine is a young girl who has been kidnapped by the ghosts and is being held prisoner in the basement of white manor. Her soul has been stolen. She requests to be freed and helped to ghost city in order to get her soul back before it's too late.
Gameplay[]
Catherine will walk on the screen, forcing the screen to scroll, as ghosts and monsters jump out to attack her. It is upto the player to shoot the enemies away and deactivate traps, keeping Catherine safe as she journeys, picking up hearts and bonus items as they do to keep her safe.
In boss areas, Catherine will walk backwards and forwards as she hits the sides of each wall, although upon taking damage she will be thrown backwards, fall to her knees and cry, momentarily stopping her movement. Catherine starts with six hearts.
At the bottom of the HUD is a small sprite on a line showcasing how long players have until Catherine safely reaches the end goal.
Trivia[]
- The game supports both regular controller input and the Light Phaser. It is one of only 13 titles to support the Light Phaser.
- The arcade game of the same name has a young girl similar to Catherine being kidnapped at the beginning of the game. It is unknown if they are meant to be the same character
