Largo Potter is a character in Valkyria Chronicles series.
Appearance[]
Largo is a large muscular 36-year old man. He has very prominent side burns, which come all the way down and nearly connect at his chin, making them almost look like a beard with the middle shaved out. He has a scar across his nose, and is nearly always seen in uniform.
History[]
Past[]
Largo grew up on a vegetable farm, helping his parents tend the land at a young age. The farm eventually went bust, but Largo never lost his passion for growing produce, and as such his dream is to restart his parents farm, and grow food all across Gallia.
Largo, and his childhood friend Fredric Klein both enlisted into a military school as the first Europan war broke out during their studies. Here the pair met Eleanor Varrot and upon graduating the trio were assigned to the same squad together. Largo would often get into arguments with Eleanor due to their differing viewpoints on practically everything, but Fredric was always there to keep the Largo's brashness in check. As Largo fought alongside Eleanor he eventually began developing romantic feelings for her, but kept it to himself due to Fredric also developing feelings for her. Largo chose to support his friend over his own personal feelings, and soon Fredric and Eleanor were engaged.
Unfortunately Fredric was captured by enemy forces and tortured to death. Largo, blaming himself for what happened to Fredric requested training to become an Anti-Tank Lancer. He vowed to protect Eleanor Varrot in Fredric's absence, and remained by her side on the battlefield passing up multiple promotions to do so, until Varrot herself was promoted to a non combative role.
Valkyria Chronicles[]
In Valkyria Chronicles, when the Second Europan War broke out, Largo once again took to arms. His multiple battles had made him value experience on the battlefield above all else, and thus when Welkin Gunther, a science student, was assigned to Squad 7 as the Squad Leader due to his education, Largo had some reservations that he made well known alongside his friend Brigitte "Rosie" Stark who has her own reasons for disliking the new set up.
Welkin, in an effort to gain Largo and Rosie's trust makes a bet with them that he can take back the occupied bridge back in 48 hours. If he fails, he'll resign and let Largo become Squad Leader, but if he succeeds both he and Rosie must accept his leadership. Largo accepts the terms, telling Welkin that "It's your funeral".
Despite all odds, Welkin manages to achieve his task using unconventional methods and his own unique knowledge of nature. Alicia Melchiott reminds him and Rosie they have to keep their promise, which they begrudgingly accept.
One lunchtime afterward, the Squad are called in to discuss a trade route that has been occupied by the Imperials, rising the price of food and prevented food trade. This enrages Largo and ignites his passion for farming and vegetables once more. He, Welkin and one other squad member of the player's choosing travel through to the location in the dead of night and destroy a blockade pair of tanks, liberating the trade route. Largo, impressed with Welkin, tells him about his dream to become a farmer after the war is over, with Welkin explaining he believes vegetables are one of the purest natural resources. The two bond over this outlook, Largo apologises for his previous attitude and becomes one of Welkin's most loyal and vocal supporters.
Largo later protects Isara Gunther from mortar fire when they are attacked, and seperated from Welkin and Alicia. He often breaks up fights between Rosie and Isara regarding Rosie's prejudice against Isara for her race, but refers to them both as being incredibly stubborn. During the break mission to the beach, he begins to reminisce with Eleanor about their past together. They enjoy a moment of joy together before Largo accidentally brings up Fredric, which causes Eleanor to request no stories with him in them, before she walks away heartbroken. Largo apologises, feeling foolish for the mistake.
Later he and the rest of Squad 7 are brought into a mission briefing by Eleanor, who wishes to send them on a top secret mission to save some Gallian hostages from notorious Imperial Captain, Giorgios Geld, the man who tortured Fredric to death in the first Europan War. Recognising the name, Largo questions Eleanor's intention, but is dismissed by her and sent off to the mission. Once Largo and Squad 7 take out the lookouts and capture Geld, Eleanor reveals she will put him to death for his crimes, with Welkin and Alicia arguing that he still has the right to a trial first. Eleanor states she will kill Geld himself if she has to and does not care about getting dishonourably discharged from her position.
Largo, having heard enough, slaps Eleanor across the face to snap her out of it. He states he wants to ring Geld's neck himself, but killing him won't bring Fredric back, and that Fredric would not want her to be driven by revenge for her entire life. Eleanor breaks down, having continued to live just for the sake of revenge and not knowing how to continue from here, and Largo states that she must live her own life from now on. Eleanor thanks Largo for always watching over her, and Largo admits that he'll watch over her always if she'd let him. This tender moment is ruined by Rosie and Welkin interrupting, with Rosie teasing Largo.
Largo is present for the final battle with Maximillian, and when Welkin and Alicia are trapped behind a pillar of flames on the exploding Valkof is ordered by Welkin to get the rest of the squad to safety. He punches the floor cursing his helplessness, but evacuates everyone else. Fortunately both Welkin and Alicia survive the explosion thanks to the timely arrival of Leon Schmidt on Isara's bi-plane, and there is a happy reunion at the end.
After the war, Largo leaves military service finally, returns to his hometown and fulfills his dream of restarting his family's farm. He offers Eleanor a bouquet large enough to fill an ox cart, a gold ring and "ten years' worth of love". The two happily marry one another and continue to run Largo Farm together.

Trivia[]
- Largo is an unlockable character in Valkyria Chronicles II, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Valkyria Chronicles 4.
- Largo has a secret admirer in the form of Jann Walker, who is obsessed with his muscles and constantly feeds him treats. Largo for his part thinks Jann's just a really nice guy and never catches on to his true feelings. Jann has the 'Largo Lover' potential that boosts his attack power if Largo is nearby.
- Largo resembles Yoko Martens' ex-husband and as such she finds it difficult being around him. She has the opposite potential of Jann; 'Largo Hater' which reduces her attack power if Largo is too close.
- Largo for his part has a unique potential called 'Veggie-Maniac' which raises his parameters up when he touches 'the bountiful earth' and another called 'Big-Hearted' which occasionally revives him after his HP hits 0.
- 'Largo Farm' is the lead supplier of watermelons according to Welvar Glenn in Valkyria Chronicles II. Considering Largo's main passion is growing vegetables, it is surprising his only known export is a fruit.
- Largo's swimsuit was left out of the final game(him being the only Squad 7 main member to not be seen in his), but there is official artwork of it. Largo's swimsuit is essentially a loincloth that leaves little to the imagination.
- That piece of artwork also reveals Largo's body is covered in x shaped scars.
