History[]
Gunstar Green and his siblings Gunstar Red, Gunstar Blue and Gunstar Yellow were planetary defenders. The evil God of Ruin known as Golden Silver was destroying cities on Earth from the moon, and fueled by a righteous anger and a desire to stop Earth from being destroyed, the Gunstars traveled to the moon to confront the mad god. After a lengthy battle, the Gunstars managed to come out on top, sealing Golden Silver in the moon.
To make sure Golden Silver could never revive again, they took the source of its power; four mystical gems and hid them in various locations on Earth. Having been pushed to their limits, the four exhausted Gunstars put themselves into a cryogenic sleep and prayed the people of Earth could rebuild from the destruction.
Generations later, Earth had built a new civilization, but the tales of Golden Silver lived on. General Grey, the leader of a dictatorship known as The Emprie, desired this power for his own. and set about reviving the god of ruin. Whilst on an exurcsion to the moon to search for the power gems, Dr. Brown, an Empire scientist, came across the Gunstars in stasis, and revived Gunstar Red, Blue and Yellow.
Gunstar Green however had been awoken from stasis early, finding himself without memories of his past, and being approached by General Grey who used a mind control device on him to help him to gain him as a powerful ally in the revival of Golden Silver. Green, now brainwashed, became Grey's strongest ally.
Green, having heard of Pink's defeat at the hands of Gunstar Red and Blue set about cornering his brothers in the Underground Mines. After the two blasted past Smash Daisaku and his armoured train, Green unleashed his own weapon; a transforming mecha known as Seven Force. This machine has a total of seven different forms:
- Soldier Force: This green machine is always fought first, making it the only form to definitely appear in a battle with Green. It can shoot its arms off like a missile, as well as launch bombs and boomerang blades at its opponents.
- Tails Force: Fought during the vertical section only, the Tails Force is a blue mecha with a long spiky ball-like tail that spins around.
- Tiger Force: A four legged green mecha shaped like a big cat, the Tiger Force uses its tail to fire explosive shots and laser beams. Only fought during horizontal sections.
- Urchin Force: The mecha turns into a purple spiky ball of death. It can essentially perform spindashes, climbing the walls with its sharp prongs. Only fought in vertical sections.
- Crab Force: The mecha transforms into a floor-to ceiling-long red crab mecha that shoots out extending walls to take out its opponents by creating deadly obstacle courses. Only fought in horizontal sections.
- Eagle Force: The mecha transforms into a giant blue eagle. It moves its wings in an erratic pattern, taking up the entirity of the shaft as it moves. Only fought in vertical sections.
- Blaster Force: The mecha transforms into a giant yellow gun. It spins around, aims at its target and then shoots explosives at them. Only fought in horizontal sections.
Despite having access to the Seven Force, Green is defeated by the combined force of Red and Blue, and as a token of his respect, hands over the gem he was guarding without fuss.
Green later fights his brothers in space with Gunstar Red and Gunstar Blue using spaceships to fight the Seven Force. The Seven Force in this battle can freely swap between each of its seven forms to attack. Red and Blue defeat the Seven Force once more and it blows up, but Green escapes with his life.
Green is later seen hanging with Pink, Orange, Black and General Grey aboard their spacecraft as Red and Blue perform an assault. He watches disintrested in the others battles until he is called upon. He is the last of Grey's generals to attempt to defeat Red and Blue, and does so without the Seven Force this time, relying on his own skill as a Gunstar, throwing ninja stars, being insanely fast and nimble and destroying the boy’s blasts with firey blasts. Upon being defeated the mind control device Grey was using on Green is destroyed.
After Red and Blue defeat Golden Silver, the God of Ruin flies into space. Red, Blue and Yellow pursue him, but without weapons they cannot stop him. Green, now free of Grey's mind control, apologises for what he did to his younger siblings and for causing them all trouble and uses the Seven Force to destroy Golden Silver, killing himself in the process.
Trivia[]
- Green is the character fought most in Gunstar Heroes, with three boss battles dedicated to him.
- Treasure's Alien Soldier has a similar weapon to Green's Seven Force; a transforming cyborg woman named Kaede who can transform into seven different forms known as 7th Force. Bizarrely, despite the name, 7th Force only has five forms.
- Interestingly, the two have the same boss theme.
- In Gunstar Super Heroes, one of the possible endings is Gunstar Yellow killing herself instead. She also mentions how the Seven Force mecha was intended to be used by her.
- Bizarrely, Ginjirou from Guardian Heroes has a resemblance to Gunstar Green.
