Not to be confused with Gon from Baku Baku Animal.
GonGon is one of the four main protagonists of the Super Monkey Ball series.
Appearance[]
GonGon is the largest of the Monkey Ball characters, and notably the first non-monkey playable character.
In his first appearance, GonGon had dark brown fur spiked at his sideburns and the top of his head. His face was a lot more aggressive looking with a permenant frown, a smaller nose and a less pronounced muzzle. He wore a red muscle vest with the letter 'G' in yellow on it. His eyes were black.
In his more modern look GonGon has been made to look considerably softer with his hair spikes rounded off, his fur color being made a lighter brown, a softer wider nose and muzzle, a happy smile and less of a frown and his muscle vest changing to one of pink with a white 'G'.
History[]
Super Monkey Ball[]
GonGon was the leader of the gorillas from 'Distant Island'. He decides to take his clan to 'Jungle Island' the home of AiAi, MeeMee, and Baby with the express desire to steal all their bananas for himself and his fellow gorillas.
When AiAi has a vision of a paradise known as 'Banana island' he and his family begin to make their way there. Desiring more bananas GonGon follows them planning to take the bananas for himself.
However due to his bad intentions, GonGon upon arriving at Banana Island is locked out by the island itself, as AiAi, MeeMee, and Baby eat to their hearts desire.
Super Monkey Ball 2[]
GonGon realising the error of his selfish ways, goes on to befriend AiAi, who shares some of his bananas with the gorilla. He and AiAi have become best friends ever since, with GonGon siding with AiAi and his family against the likes of Dr. Bad-Boon.
He and AiAi later go on to create the Monkey Ball as an invention that any ape could use in their joint company AiGon Investments.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble[]
Other appearances[]
Sega Superstars series[]
Sega Superstars Tennis[]
In Sega Superstars Tennis, GonGon makes a non-playable appearance as a court watcher alongside Baby and YanYan. Interestingly he appears both on court and in the background rolling around in a monkey ball allowing for multiple GonGon's to appear at the same time.
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing[]
In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, GonGon also appears as part of AiAi's All-Star Move, where he, MeeMee, and Baby will run in their Monkey Balls alongside AiAi, crushing those in the way.
Sega Heroes[]
In Sega Heroes, GonGon is a playable green rare hero who was added on the game launch. He has the following gameplay characteristics:

Trivia[]
- GonGon has appeared in every Super Monkey Ball game aside from the original Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball: Ticket Blitz, as only AiAi is a playable character in that title.
- GonGon unsurprisingly has the best strength and weight stats of the playable monkeys, but his movement stats such as jump, spin or turning tend to be lower.
- In Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble, GonGon is shown to be scared of curses.
