Golden Axe II is a side scrolling beat em up by Sega released for the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991 in Japan, and 1992 in North America and Europe.
Plot[]
A few years after Death Adder is defeated by Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead, Dark Guld, who had been sealed a long time ago, escapes from his imprisonment.
With plans to throw the world back into chaos once again under his command, Dark Guld steals the Golden Axe and uses it's power alongside his own personal army of demons to lay waste to the land.
Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead once again join forces to take down Dark Guld, restore the land to as it was and retrieve the Golden Axe from the villains hand.
Gameplay[]
The core gameplay remains the same, but each character is given new magic abilities that can be charged or released in weaker bursts.
Gilius Thunderhead swaps out his Thunder and Lightning Magic for rock based magic such as avalanches.
Ax Battler swaps out his volcano magic for Wind based magic such as tornadoes.
Tyris Flare keeps her fire magic, although this time she can summon a dragon to lay waste to everyone around her.
Magic is obtained through spell books rather than potions, and wizards replace the gnome thieves.
Trivia[]
- This game was stuck on the Mega Drive, not seeing many ports until the release of Sega Mega Drive Classics.
