Eternal Champions is a series of hyper violent fighting games by Sega of America in the style of Konami's Mortal Kombat. The titles were known for having killing animations and stage kills.
Ultimately the series was cancelled forcibly by Sega of Japan, who saw Eternal Champions as possible competition for the success of the then upcoming Virtua Fighter series in the west, despite Eternal Champions having an established fan base, stellar sales in America and offers for comic book adaptions and animated shows.
