Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller is a 2002 driving video game for the Xbox and Windows developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega.
Gameplay[]
The gameplay remains largely the same as the previous two installments.
Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller's additions include four new playable characters: Angel, Bixbite, Mrs. Venus and Zax as well as the previous drivers of Axel, B.D. Joe, Gena, Gus, Slash, Iceman, Cinnamon and Hot-D making for a total 12 drivers. Eventually all drivers can be played on any stage.
The newest city map, Glitter Oasis, is based off of Las Vegas and takes place at night. Players can drive everywhere from the strip to the desert outskirts as they drop off their fares.
Small Apple and West Coast also return with their original cabbies, although Small Apple now takes place at night making West Coast the only daytime level.
Players can perform their 'Crazy Stunts' such as 'Crazy Hop', 'Crazy Drift' and 'Crazy Dash'. Picking up multiple fares returns from Crazy Taxi 2 for all maps.
The Offspring and Bad Religion both return to provide the sound track for the game and are joined by newcomers Pivit and Silverbullit. Methods of Madness and Brian Setzer provide additional songs for menus and credits.
This version of Crazy Box/Crazy Pyramid, is called Crazy X. Much like the previous installments this mode has players engage in a variety of mini games using the game's mechanics such as hitting a giant baseball with the front of your taxi in order to get a home run.
Players can unlock the previous game's odd transport options; Bike and Stroller alongside a new Carriage option.
Trivia[]
- Crazy Taxi 3 was originally going to have day and night cycles which would change the type of passenger the cabbies would pick up, but this was ultimately dropped and each map was given either a day or night theme.
- In an interview, Kenji Kanno has stated he'd like to revisit the day/night cycle theme at some point in the future.[1]
- This is the first Crazy Taxi game to have two different cabbies on the box art depending on region: Angel appears on the North American version whilst Bixbite appears on the PAL cover.
- This is the first game in the series to not being playable on a SEGA console.
