Crazy Taxi 2 is a 2001 arcade driving video game developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega.

Gameplay[]

Whilst the core gameplay of Crazy Taxi remains in tact; picking up customers and dropping them off to their destination as fast as humanly possible, there have been a few features added:

Players can now pick up more than a singular customer at once, allowing for bigger bonuses.

This game introduces the Crazy Hop ability which allows taxi drivers to leap over small obstacles allowing for more crazy shortcuts and faster times. Performing these alongside Crazy Dash techniques will net the player a bigger bonus.

New maps have been added as well Small Apple and Around Apple both of which are based off of New York City. These new cities have four new cabbies: Slash, Iceman, Cinnamon and Hot-D, which alongside veterans Axel, B.D. Joe, Gena and Gus brings the total playable cast to eight.

Crazy Box has been replaced with Crazy Pyramid, a selection of special challenges and mini games.

Like the first game, the cities are full of real life brand stores such as Burger King, Hard Rock Cafe, GAP and HMV.

The soundtrack is provided by The Offspring and Methods of Madness.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only mainline Crazy Taxi title to be exclusive to a single console.
  • Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars uses Crazy Taxi 2 maps, and is the closest this sequel has gotten to being ported to another console.
