Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams... was a Christmas-themed sampler disc of NiGHTS into Dreams... released in 1996.
Plot[]
The story takes place after the original NiGHTS into Dreams..., and takes place during Christmas.
Elliot Edwards and Claris Sinclair are shopping for gifts in Twin Seeds City, when they notice the tower is decorated beautifully to look like a Christmas tree. They sense something is missing however, and looking at the tower they decide it is lacking a star to sit atop it.
Elliot and Claris decide to go to Nightopia, find NiGHTS and retrieve the star. Together they defeat the boss who was keeping the star, and retrieve it. However as it is all a dream, the star does not manifest itself in the real world, but both children know something amazing is about to happen. They rush to meet up with one another the next day, with Elliot slipping on some ice in his rush. Claris helps him up as the crowd watches as she helps him up, with the narrator wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Gameplay[]
The player can choose either Elliot or Claris to play as, much like in NiGHTS into Dreams. The only course is Spring Valley, but it is altered into a winter wonderland. Upon arriving, both children are attacked by enemies who steal all but one of their Ideyas. Elliot and Claris must then dualize(or fuse) with NiGHTS to retrieve 20 blue chips and destroy the Ideya Capture, bringing the Ideya back to the Ideya Palace.
Doing this four times will unlock the boss battle against Gillwing, whom the player must defeat by paralooping around his tail or ripping his head off until there is no tail left.
After beating the game, players can unlock extra modes or 'Presents' via a memory matching game.
Trivia[]
- Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams... is an unlockable mode in the HD remaster of NiGHTS into Dreams, obtained once the game is beaten.
- Playing this game on April Fools Day will change NiGHTS into Reala.
- The Saturn version of this title has an exclusive present called Sonic the Hedgehog into Dreams, in which the player could play as Sonic, collecting blue chips instead. Unlike in the main game there was no timer, and Sonic was allowed to freeroam around Spring Valley much like Claris and Elliot without the egg alarm chasing him. The boss battle was also altered to be a boss against Dr. Eggman who acted like the Puffy boss battle from NiGHTS into Dreams.... Strangely this mode is missing from the HD versions released on Windows.
- If playing the title on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, Santa Claus can be seen travelling through the night sky.
- Playing the game on Febuary 14th, aka Valentines day will have hearts rain down from the heavens.
- Playing the game on January 1st to January 15th will change Elliot and Claris' clothing to their New Years outfits.
