Choplifter is a slider-like video game game, developed in 1982 by Dan Gorlin and published by Broderbund for Apple II. It is one of the few titles that, initially conceived for home computers, were subsequently converted for coin-op, in this case by SEGA in 1985, when the route was usually inversed. A review by the US magazine Softalk put it first in 1982's most famous Apple II software. According to the author, the great success obtained would be derived from the contemporary hostage crisis in Iran.

Choplifter was written by Gorlin in about 6 months of work; Was inspired by Defender and his passion for helicopters.
