Chaz Ashley (Japanese: ルディ・アシュレ, "Rudy Ashley") is the main protagonist of Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, and is also the third and final protector of the Algo system, after Alis Landale of the first millennium, and her descendant Rolf of the second millennium.
He has blond hair, a red headband, and a red suit with silver armor plates.

Chaz has roughly average stats across the board. His strength growth, exceeded only by Gryz, Demi, and Wren, combined with high attack power on swords, helps make his basic attacks, cross cut and air slash skills reliable damage dealers. While his TP growth is below average, he still has significantly more ability with techniques than Gryz, Demi, and Wren.
Techniques[]
Chaz is the only player character with access to light attack techniques, which are effective against many of Zio's minions and demon type enemies. He also has access to all physical and destruct attack techniques, some healing and status recovery techniques, and the teleportation techniques. Due to a glitch in the Japanese version, learning Megid will remove Nazan from Chaz's technique list; this glitch is fixed in other versions.

Chaz is the only player character who can equip swords, two handed weapons with high attack power and moderate defense power. He can alternatively equip daggers and shields. He can wear helms, and suits or mail as armor.
