CHUNITHM is a series of biyearly arcade rhythm games released almost exclusively in the Asia and Oceania regions. It is played on an arcade cabinet with a keyboard like section in front of the screen and motion sensors on either side of the booth. To play, players must wear a pair of gloves(to avoid friction burn at higher play and dampen impact on machine), and register an Aime Card.
Gameplay[]
The game is played in a very similar style to rhythm games such as Guitar Hero, where button prompts will come towards the screen and players must touch the corrosponding key on the screen. There are also motion bars that sense where the players hand for when the players hand must be waved in the air.
The different button prompts are as follows:
- TAP: The most basic input. When a red button appears players must tap the screen with a score given depending on accuracy. Gold notes can be hit at any point for max points.
- HOLD: These notes must be held down until they disappear. Typically the appear as an orange button followed by an orange, purple and pink gradient.
- SLIDE: Similar to HOLD notes, the SLIDE note must be held down but can be moved left and right in accordance to what is on the screen. They are blue buttons followed by a pink to blue gradient.
- RAISE: Raise notes are indicated by a green arrow pointing upwards. Players must hit the board and then raise their arms into the air.
- AIR: AIR notes are pink notes typically found after the RAISE note has been hit. When this appears players must move their arms in the air(the exact accuracy does not matter). Hands can be lowered after the AIR note is complete.
In harder difficulties, additional note types are added:
- DOWN: DOWN notes are indicated by a pink arrow pointing dowards. The opposite of RAISE notes, hands must be brought down from the air when they appear.
- FLICK: Indicated by a blue bandaid looking note. Exclusive to Master difficulty, the note behaves similarly to a TAP note, but players must follow the tap up with a flick to either side.
- DAMAGE: These notes are in World's end difficulty, and are traps. When they appear players need to purposely miss them in order to succeed. Any action performed during a DAMAGE note will result in a miss.
At the end of the game, players can get a score of upto 10,010,000, the equivalent of 101% in a title like maimai. Players can get bonuses for full combos, or for hitting each note perfectly.
Characters[]
Characters can be obtained from different maps. These can add to a players score using their individual skills.
