Bayonetta 2 is an action game originally released for the Wii U in 2014. It is the sequel to 2009's Bayonetta.
Plot[]
Bayonetta 2 starts up a few months after the ending of the first game, where the titular Umbra Witch is Christmas shopping in the city with Enzo. Suddenly angels attack, and Bayonetta teams up with her friend, and fellow witch, Jeanne in order to fight them off.
Just as the witch duo are about to win, Bayonetta attempts to summon a demon, but the summoning breaks loose of it's binding and attacks Bayonetta. Jeanne pushes Bayonetta out of the way, but has her soul knocked clean out of her and dragged down into the Inferno. Bayonetta, defeats the summoning with another, and saves Jeanne's body. She goes to visit Rodin, who reveals that until Jeanne's soul is completely absorbed, she can still be saved.
Bayonetta grabs Enzo and sets out to the mountain of Fimbulventr, to find a way to save Jeanne.
Gameplay[]
Players play as Bayonetta and utilise a string of melee and gunplay attacks, with a focus on pulling off insane combos. Dodging at the right time will activate a 'Witch Time' mechanic which allows Bayonetta to attack her hapless opponents as time around them slows to a crawl. When finishing off opponents, Bayonetta can use a variety of gruesome and gory 'Torture Attacks' which will finish angelic opponents off in a usually bloody fashion.
New to the game is an ability known as 'Umbran Climax' which when can be activated after Bayonetta's magic bar becomes full. Unleashing this ability powers Bayonetta up with additional Wicked Weaves and Demon summonings, extending her range and healing Bayonetta whilst in use.
