Azami is a young girl with sharp eyes, short black hair in a messy bob and short thick eyebrows. She wears a frilly yellow maid outfit with huge sleeves capable of hiding her weapons, all tied up with purple and yellow bows and wears a fishnet body suit underneath. She also wears thick soled shoes to try and make herself taller.

Azami was abandoned by her parents as a baby, being taken in by her foster father and ninja master Yattansai Mochizuki, who tells her that her parents will return if she becomes a perfect ninja. Allegedly this is to prevent Azami from giving up the will to live, but the lie has become an all encompassing part of who Azami is now. Regardless, Yattansai raised Azami, and held onto her picture diary showcasing her progress of becoming a ninja.
Whilst a performing member of the theatre, Azami often stays up late to guard her new home from intruders, leading to a misunderstanding when Seijuro Kamiyama became her captain. Azami is deadly, but is still a child and as such falls for many trappings such as spending her money on manju sweets at Hiromi Hongo's place or finding it hard to resist pressing a button on Peanut, the mascot outfit Seijuro is in.
Azami is later accused of being a spy for the demons, as the Combat Revue HQ catch her meeting with a mysterious man(who turns out to be Yattansai Mochizuki). She is detained, as is Seijuro after he attempts to prove her innocence.
The two escape when the goons who detain them run off to corner Yattansai Mochizuki. Seijuro comes to his rescue, believing Yattansai to be a helpless old man, and both of them are held at gun point, ready to be executed when Azami arrives in the nick of time to save them with well placed kunai despite being ordered to run by Yattansai. For doing so, Yattansai states she's graduated as a ninja and tells her to follow her own ninja way.
Later it's revealed there is actually a spy amongst the Flower Division, Anastasia Palma. Despite the treatment Azami faced, she does not hold Anastasia to account after finding out Anastasia had been promised her deceased parents to be reunited with her in exchange for her help stealing Sakura's sword and reporting back with weaknesses.
Trivia[]
Standing Azami up on the Christmas date will cause her to put caltrops in Seijuro's bed. Upon leaping up in surprise, Azami will attack him before Seijuro begs for his life. Azami does not strike but will state she was looking forward to spending time together before leaving, crying as she does so.
Azami is the youngest member of the new Flower Division, but not the youngest member the division has ever had. That would be Iris Chateaubriand at age 9.
