Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a 2021 remake and reimagining of the 1986 title, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, by JankenTeam and Merge Games.

New features

Whilst a faithful remake, the characters and world have been completely redesigned to fit a more modern aesthetic, and the game has a few unique features to improve it:

• Retro Mode: Allows players to switch between the 2021 and 1986 graphics at the press of a button.
• Boss Rush Mode: Allowing players to fight every boss back to back
• New levels: Seemlessly included within the story
• Alternative boss fights: New and improved boss fight mechanics with more intuitive combat.
• New and remastered musical score:
• Infinite Lives Mode: With one hit deaths, you may need it...

Trivia

• This is the first Alex Kidd title in 31 years.
• The game was developed in Unity 2019 LWRP
• On June 8th 2021, Merge games released a trailer stating the game was coming out two days earlier than expected, from the 24th June to 22nd June.
• In an interview with Nintendo Life, Jose Sanz, the game's designer, revealed the game would have references and easter eggs to past Alex Kidd titles.
• At the end of each level Alex will pick up a food item. Alongside the Onigiri and Hamburger from the original, he can now eat a Spanish Omelette or Fish and Chips. This is because Jankenteam are a Spanish company, and Merge Games are a British company and the two foods are references to that.
• Infinite Lives can be put on in options, however it prevents Achievements and Trophies from being obtainable in the Steam/Xbox/PS4/PS5 versions.
