Not to be confused with Adam, the robot Shining Force member.
Adam Hunter (アダム・ハンター ) is one of the recurring protagonists of Streets of Rage series. Unlike his partners Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, Adam Hunter has only been playable in half the titles.
Appearance[]
Adam Hunter is a muscular black man often seen wearing a yellow shirt of some kind, black pants with knee pads and black fingerless gloves.
In Streets of Rage, Adam wears a yellow T-shirt with black sleeves and neck trim. He wears dark colored boots that appear to strap up with a yellow fastner.
In Streets of Rage 4, Adam wears an unbuttoned yellow shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black suspenders. He now wears a pair of sunglasses and has the sides of his hair shaved into a fade. Adam also wears shin guards, yellow and black sneakers and has a slightly bulkier, but still athletic build.
History[]
Streets of Rage[]
Adam joined the Wood Oak City Police force prior to the events of Streets of Rage. Over time the Syndicate managed to successfully take over the city with the police on their payroll allowing crime to run rampant.
He and his partners Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, decided to hand in their badges in order to clear up the city streets as vigilantes, and put a stop to Mr. X and his lieutenants.
After visiting every area of the city and even managing to defeat Mr. X himself, they successfully seemed to liberate Wood Oak City of the Syndicate and believed peace was restored. Adam was the only one of the three to return to the force, and now lived with his younger brother Eddie "Skate" Hunter.
Streets of Rage 2[]
On the one year anniversary of Mr. X's defeat, Adam was supposed to reunite with Blaze and Axel to celebrate their successes and reminesce about old times, but was ambushed by Mr. X's right hand man, Shiva, and his goons at his home. When his young brother returned to a wrecked apartment, he began to worry and contacted Axel and Blaze to help investigate. Adam's two partners came across a photo of Adam in chains at the feet of Mr. X and staged a rescue operation for Adam with the help of both Skate and Axel's friend Max Thunder.
Streets of Rage 3[]
Later due to being too busy with police work Adam sends Skate to aid Axel, Blaze and Dr. Gilbert Zan with the investigation into Mr. X's bombings and clearing Axel's name. He does however turn up later to aid the group in finding the location of Mr. X and dismantles the remaining bombs whilst his ex-partners, little brother and Dr. Zan defeat Mr. X for a third time.
Streets of Rage 4[]
Adam had quite enough excitement after the bombing dismantle and had decided to quit the force to look after his daughter Cherry Hunter. However he ended up getting a job offer as a Special Forces agent that he couldn't say no to, and ten years after the events of Streets of Rage 3, Adam is tasked with the mission to infiltrate the new Syndicate run by Mr. X's offspring; Mr. Y and Ms. Y.
As Estel, a fellow special forces officer, approaches Axel, Blaze, Cherry and Dr. Zan's apprentice Floyd, Adam appears and tells her to stand down. She refuses and Adam appears to defeat her urging his ex-partners and daughter to go onward whilst he "talks" to her...
Other appearances[]
Power Drift[]
Adam is a racer in the Japan standalone Nintendo 3DS eshop release of Power Drift.
Sega Heroes[]
In Sega Heroes, Adam is a playable yellow rare hero who was added on the game launch. He has the following gameplay characteristics:
Hero | Rarity | Skills | MAX Skill Mana Costs | Traits |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rare | Combo Kick Pipe Smash Bruiser |
9 | Campaign Controller Original Rebel Dutiful Virtuous City |
Trivia[]
- Adam's original name was going to be Wolf.
- His new Star Move involves him shooting energy swords out of the ground. This was chosen as the artists felt Adam himself was a 'Sword of Justice'.
- Adam is the only member of the original three to not appear playable in every game. However his family members fill in for him when he is missing from the initial line up with his little brother Skate in Streets of Rage 2 and 3 and daughter Cherry in Streets of Rage 4 (although he is an unlockable playable character after a certain point).
- In Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives credit sequence, Adam ends up various comical mishaps.
- He is shot up by a water spout from Big Blue during a ride on the whale's back with other characters in the collaboration, and is knocked underwater by him.
- He is found underwater being circled by fish by Ecco the Dolphin.
- When he, Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding are breaking objects to find food recovery items, Adam kicks an oil tanker and reveals a riceball. It is immedietly stolen by Alex Kidd.
- In Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage during the end credits for Streets of Rage 3, Adam's Streets of Rage sprite comes across his chained up Streets of Rage 3 sprite. Because Adam's SoR1 sprite is not meant to be there, he is kicked off screen by Blaze Fielding (who is also covered up by Eddie "Skate" Hunter as part of a running gag of him censoring Blaze's short miniskirt in the credits).
- During the end screen with all the characters, Adam is still shown chained up in his Streets of Rage 3 cutaway, having not been rescued yet.
