Ace of Aces is a flight combat simulator game created by Artech Studios and published by Sega, released in 1991 for the Master System.
Plot[]
It is World War II, you're a British soldier, and you've just volunteered yourself to take part in an incredibly dangerous piloting mission without any further information. Colonel Stratford commends you on your bravery, and lays out the four missions Britain needs you to complete in order to turn the tide of the war.
Gameplay[]
The title has more in common with a flight simulation than an arcade shooter, with the player in control of a combat plane from the cockpit, and needing to check a map to see how far long their flight path is.
The player will occasionally come in to contact with enemy planes and engage them in a dogfight, shooting them down, and being able to control the wings individually.
Trivia[]
- Despite playing as a Royal Air Force pilot, the title screen showcases a plane that the RAF wouldn't have used during the game's setting.
