I want to consider adopting this wiki or discussing receiving administrator privileges, I have many ideas to improve this wiki and have knowledge in CSS code so I can even help visually improve it.

My suggested ideas:
Immediately begin to fix stubs.
Clean up redirects, delete unnecessary articles.
Finish listing all Sega game/product developments.
Clean up, reorganize and modernizes home page.
Modernize and standardize templates.
Create effective series portals.
Strive for more effective SEO optimizations.
Responsive design.
Improve community content.
Finish creating all pre 1980 Sega articles.

If given permission to adopt or admin rights I'll get it all done.

The Sega Shop?

So I took a look around the Sega store and honestly somewhat underwhelmed.

I know Sega's old consoles are no longer in production but I was hoping the very least the Sega Shop had suppliers for old consoles that we can buy at reasonable prices. I'd rather buy from Sega themselves than third-party transactions.

For example, looking to buy a Master System II. Ones I find on eBay that are used but still with packaging are around 150-300 UK£ and thats just too much. In my day the retail price was around £99.

I was also hoping the very least they would have Sega Logistic Service products or official licenced adapters for Sega controllers to be played on PC. You won't believe how difficult it is to find a Sega Saturn USB controller that isn't PlaySega. (Honestly, kind of an insult Sega didn't trust their own hardware company to make their own mini-consoles than resort to AtGames which blundered the marketing and reliability of the Flashback products to rival Nintendo's mini-consoles.)

It would be nice to buy actual Sega consoles from the Sega store than having to buy them from eBay. Sega's really missing out on profit here giving eBay is selling their old tech and they're not getting a penny from it.

That and it makes me feel like a berk not to have realised the coellctors value of consoles growing up in the 90s.

So yeah, it would be nice if the Sega Store actually sold collectors consoles and controllers as well as adaptors for PC use. I can list a few website companies that SLS can collaborate with to make it possible.

Do you think 2018 is the year of NiGHTS

Journey of dreams was made 10 years after the previous one, do you think Sega is going to make a 3rd game now that it is 10 years from the previous game

If Sega made consoles?

There is some consoles out there proposed to Sega such as the Spartan and Oprtation: Razor.
What are your thoughts on it?
Also, if Sega asked to you make a console to get them back into making machines, what would you come up with?

Is there any SG-1000 homebrews?

Is there any Sega SG-1000 homebrews?
I don't know why, but SG-1000 homebrewer is quite rare compared to Atari 2600, and Colecovision homebrews.
(PS: SG-1000 have similiar capabilities as Colecovision)

Your wishlist

What Sega games you never got the chances to play or own, but would like to have? I would like to play Skies of Arcadia because I enjoy RPGs and never got round to playing it. I also would like to play Phantasy Star Online 2 but I do not own a PlayStation Visa. Apparently the game is for the PC however the game was never released in the west. There has been some mods made for the game to make it possible but I dunno what to do to get the game.
I have played Phantasy Star Online but this was way back before we could afford internet so I was pretty much all alone on the Pioneer II.It would be nice to play a Sega MMO for all Sega fans to enjoy.

I'm considering RfUR

I know I haven't done much of anything for Sega Wiki, but I am considering requesting to more directly helping out here.
I haven't got much to bring onto the table, but heres what I have to offer:

I'm an Admin on Sonic News Network, been at it since 2009 and got plenty of experiance under my belt.
Also a wiki-based contributor to SNN. I mostly fiddle with MonoBook. (Your MonoBook skin does need quite some work.) But I do have some experiace with Oasis and can perhaps help with that too. I'm thinking black with thin white square pattern, like Mega Drive box art.)
Recently, nice guys at Wikia's Fandom has been giving a makeover to our wiki (We call it a "spiff"). I'm not entirely sure what the perks, I think mobile apps and a revised discussion system. Honestly I'm not to fond of the new discussion system, but given this wiki's discussion isn't all that use I doubt it's much of a negative thing here. Anyway to go along with it might help attract some more attention to this wiki. Now, I can ask if Fandom is interested in giving Sega Wiki the same treatment, maybe they can even get more publicity for it. However SNN didn't ask for Fandoms help, it was Fandom that offered it and we welcomed it. So I can ask but can't say if they're up for it.
Why do I want to help this wiki? Sure I'm more of a Sonic fan than just Sega, but sometimes I just wanna talk about other stuff relating to Sega that I feel have no real place to talk about it on SNN. Sure I could join the actual Sega forums but I never really feel comfortable joining forums with no one on the inside I know.
I also have an idea for Sega wiki, but I'm not entirely sure how to pull it off let alone best describe it. My idea is the relations between Sega Wiki and other sega franchise wikis be much more than just affiliations. Ideas in mind could be articles here can offer to redirect to affiliate wiki's articles, maybe a special {{page tag}} for it or something if not enough information is granted on the article. Think of it like Miracle on 34th Street where Kris was Mall Santa for Macy's and started directing customers to competitors stores for gifts and products Macy's didn't have. The head of the toy department was angry at this at first but found the customers were more loyal and was generating good publicity goodwill in the store.
Still, this is just an idea. Do not know how the affiliate wiki's will feel of such redirecting. But if somewhat successful would make an interesting network of information passing throughout wikis.

Franchises you want to see rebooted?

Hello! Mystic Monkey from SNN here come to visit.
Gotta question for anyone still active around here. What dated Sega franchises would you like to see rebooted and how can you imagine them in modern gaming?

House of the Dead
I would like to see The House of the Dead rebooted into a FPS game for PC or home consoles. I can imagine it like Outlast but with Half-Life like gameplay. Instead of an automated path and encounters, you're free to explore Curien Mansion. The game could still be set in December 1998 and be about rescuing the kidnapped Sophie and stopping Roy Curien, but with the whole mansion to explore you can find tie-ins and collectibles such as Curiens files on how DBR provide funding and Formula X for Curien to work with.
I've always thought HotD was a waste of good potential for a horror genre zombie game that could of rivaled Resident Evil franchise. But alas Sega chose to keep it an arcade game. And you can't really get immerse in the environment of the game given all the jump scares are scheduled and being played in arcades during business hours just removes all the fear factor from it entirely. If Sega wanted to, they could make this into a really terrifying series.

Fighting Vipers
Inspired by the YouTube movie Kung Fury I would also like to see Fighting Vipers rebooted. It can play like Virtua Fighter but players can purchase and change the armour of the fighters (Kinda like what upcoming Injustice 2 will be doing). A story in mind can be about a street fighting tournament hoasted by Big Mahler as a front to pedle his manufactured drug "venom", a cocktail made with steroids and snake venom and injected into the bloodstream with twin-needle syringe, leaving a snakebite like mark. Fighters like Jane, Raxel, Mahler and maybe Tokio are reliant on venom while the other fighters who are clean are fighting for their own interest. Perhaps FV2 or new fighters could be introduce who aim to get venom off the streets.
Players can select to have a VCR filter for the entire game to give it that early 90s grainy effect.

Alex Kidd
Another reboot I'd be interested to see would be Alex Kidd. Given I've been playing a lot of Breath of the Wild recently, I imagine what if Alex Kidd had a world to explore like Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess. A full open-world like BotW might be a bit overkill. I can imagine instead of being reliant on tools or weapons, Alex can master three different styles of an ancient martial art known as "Roshambo" which consist of three Core Techniques that make up the fighting style. Shellcore technique could be Hung Gar in fighting style, Fancore Technique can be like T'ai chi ch'uan or Baguazhang and Bladecore Technique can be light Praying Mantis style. Alex must learn each core technique in order to fight enemies which can counter or defend depending on which three of the styles you've chosen.

So what Sega games would you like to see rebooted for the modern audience?

Would this generate more interest than other Game Gear?

So I found a first gen North American Game Gear with the flat screen cover. Do these usually garner more than the bubble screen covers?

Also it would seem to be a really old one with a serial number under 9000 and factory 0, 1991 build, and first production run 010008953

I am going to be re-capping it also.

Any thoughts on value compared to what seems to normally be on eBay?
Looks to be barely played with minimal scratches.

Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation

This week, I read the paperback version of Blake J. Harris’ Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation.
While the main focus of the book is on Tom Kalinske during his tenure at the head of Sega of America, the book also takes a look at certain key events which helped shape this generation: from the long-lasting effects of Nintendo’s efforts to resurrect the North American video game industry almost single-handedly after the great crash of 1983 (be it on competitors, third-party developers, various retailers, and even the Seattle Mariners) to the ongoing tension at the heart of Sega’s internal divide between its Japanese and U.S. offices; and from the added public scrutiny which spurred the creation of the ESRB to the mistakes made by both Sega and Nintendo when each opted to ultimately spurn an alliance with a certain other Japanese company.
I wonder what happened with those guys…
There are two live-action projects in the works based on this book, though I’m not sure how much confidence I’d have in how well either or both of those works may turn out.

There’s another book I’d be curious to look into – Sam Pettus’ Service Games: the Rise and Fall of SEGA (Enhanced Edition). I mention the Enhanced Edition in particular, since it apparently corrects a number of issues which were reportedly in the original printing, as well as adding more detail on Sega’s operations in Europe.

Has anyone here read either book – and if so, what are your thoughts on either (or both) of them?

The SeHa Girls

Over the last couple of years, Sega Japan has been building a franchise of sorts around the SeHa Girls - anthropomorphizations of various Sega platforms. (Not quite a full list as of yet - there is still no Nomad-chan, for one - but I digress.)
If this concept sounds familiar, that may be because a similar "girls-based-on-game-platforms" exists courtesy of the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise - which, as it happens, is set to get an official crossover with the SeHa Girls over in Japan this November.
So, my question is this: would this wiki be open to incorporating the SeHa Girls, to include the Neptunia crossover and their guest roles in other media (such as in the Japanese smartphone game Kaden Shoujo); as well as SeHa Girl appearances in their own right (such as in this recent anime)?
This Nepedia has already started to look at the crossover game, and the characters set to appear in it, from their own Nep-perspective. Would this wiki be open to looking at things from the other side of the console wars?
